| Hum – I'd Like Your Hair Long Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Here's my interpertation of this song: Let's start things off by saying it really reminds me of a past relationship of mine and that's what I'm basing my interpertation off of. I beileve this song starts off after the break up with someone who was loved by the person singing (or someone he knows?). The lines: "i'd like your hair long and ladeled to the ground" Refers to how they love that person for themselves. Kinda like that saying about "letting your hair down." They love the person for who they are and wouldn't want them to change. The next line: "but you'd prefer an astronaut" Shows how the other person broke up with them for someone who's head is in up in space. Pretty much a total idiot who has no idea what is going on in the world. It continues by saying how they could relate to each other, because the person who broke up with the singer is not the brightest person either. It also states how in this new relationship the singer's ex is in the other person will do whatever they say and take "commands." (Which also could show the singer's ex was very bossy and controlling... possibly why they broke up.) The part about the "simple man" shows how the singer feels about themself - which is that they are pretty basic when it comes to the relationship. All they need is love and respect. "i could hardly wait for my stars to fall in line and synchronize and shine" - Reflects on how the singer really wants everything to be better for them and to be successful in their own eyes. Maybe that means to be in a good relationship. "a wasted string of years, and a wasted string of lies it's still the same to me" - Tells how the singer knows this was a waste of his time and a bad relationship, but none the less, still loves the person. "it's a waste of a song you're a waste of my lungs " - Could show how they have written many songs about the ex and tried to fix things by speaking to them, but knows this person will not go back with them. "i'd like your face gone and in its place the sun and i would be an astronaut for i have come to surface to catch some light and feed and i have everything i need" This part shows how the singer is in a new relationship and has become exactly what their ex was - someone with their head in the air (a snob) and someone who is an idiot (head up in space.) They think they have moved on and forgotten about the ex, but they also know taht their ex will always be apart of them. However, by this point in time they are pretending to hate the ex. They repeat the other parts to show that they secretly still feel the same as they use to, but know its a wate of thought. That's how I think of this song. It's very sad when you think of it. |

| Dinosaur Jr. – Puke + Cry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song really reminds me of someone with a big ego that hasn't found where they are in the world yet and doesn't really care either. A very stupid girl... When he says "come on down: I think hes talking about getting her head out of sky, like her nose is up in the air, to everyone. That's my interpretation.... | |

| Television Personalities – All The Young Children On Crack Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Im my mind, this is a very powerful song about the youth today. You can interpret this song many ways. One way of looking at it is the obvious. I don't need to explain, do I? Next, you can see it as the music today. Alot of the people today are listening to alot of crap on Kiss FM and MTV, especially the young children, hence the lines "Alll the young children on smack, all the young children on crack." When he says,"They diserve something better, let's give them something back." He's saying that they diserve to listen to better music, not just what the media tells them to like and he wants to give them better music to listen too. The last few lines don't really have to do with the rest, yet they are my favorite lines in the whole song, so easy for me to relate to. Here's my thoughts on it, Kurt Cobain (my hero)and I were both diagnosed with Bi-Polar(Manic Depression) at age 8. I see this as how we were not born bad or sad, but we turned that way, but however we were born mad as in insane. We were born diffrerent and can not change that even if we tried. Kris |

| Television Personalities – She Can Stop Traffic Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
This is my favorite song on the Televison Personalities new album, My Dark Places. I can really relate to this. This is my interpretation on the song. I believe the line "She can stop traffic," is saying that she can stop all the traffic going into his head, like all the thoughts. The first "She can do magic" is refering to the line above how its magic that she can stop all the thoughts going into his head. "Love can be magic," says that, well, thats basically its self explainitory. My favorite line in the whole song, is "Life can be tragic, but she can do magic." I think anyone who has had a bad life and then falls in love would totally understand this. At the end of the song, Daniel Treacy whispers, "And she's mine.... well she was." This song is obviously about agirl who he loves/loved. Kris |

Hasn't anyone ever heard that this song was about The S.C.U.M. Manifesto by Valerie Solanas? Scum stands for Socieity for Cutting Up Men. She was a feminist and she shot Andy Warhol. Kurt loved this book because it was all against men. He thought the book was hysterical. This would explain the line, "Never met a wise man, if so it's a woman." Kris |
