Billy Joel – Only The Good Die Young Lyrics 19 years ago
I, also, agree with lyss222's interpretation. (I agree that is what the song means.) He means to do away with her innocence in some manner (sexually or otherwise) and he's not referring to the good dying "physically".

However, I very much disagree that the song's message is true and valid (and no, I'm not Catholic). What's 70 or so years of "fun" being a sinner compared to an eternity in hell which will be no fun at all despite what some think. What's 70 or so years of "crying" as a saint (to paraphrase the song) compared to an eternity where God has done away with all pain, sicnkess and crying in heaven?

We see some people as "good" or "bad" because we compare them to ourselves and each other. But the Bible states that no one is "good". When we compare ourselves to God's holiness and absolute perfection, we are all "bad".... we have already lost our innocence. But God is not satisfied with sending us all to hell for our sins (although that is exactly what we deserve). He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins by dying on the cross and being raised again to life so that whomever believes may start a new life... one where God declares the person to be "good" and innocent... one that demands we stop sinning and live for God... one that ultimately leads us to heaven for all eternity. We each have this choice. Which will it be?

When I was visiting my grandfather in Florida, he mentioned that he'd rather be a sinner because they have more fun. Not 6 months later he died. A coincidence? Possibly. God offers us a brand new life, will you accept it?

Mark Schultz – Running Just To Catch Myself Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this humorous but still very relavent look at the life of your average corporate employee. It comes amazingly close to some of my own experiences (although, I've never had a McMuffin).

This song has a Wierd Al Yankovic "feel" which blends well with the songs light hearted nature.

Steve Taylor – Whatever Happened To Sin Lyrics 19 years ago
Ezekiel 16:49-50 and Jude 1:7 provide a list of Sodom and Gomorrah's sins. The people are described as being: arrogant, overfed, unconcerned, not helping the poor and needy, haughty, performing desestable acts, sexual immorality and perversion.

Included in the "detestable acts" and "sexual immorality" is homosexuality for in Genesis 19:4-5 (NIV) the Bible states: "Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house. They called to Lot, 'Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them.'" Clearly, homosexuality was one of the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, but certainly not the only one. Sin over time multiplies.

Just as clearly, The Bible states that homosexuality is wrong and is one of the many results of our desire to abandon God and forget about Him and His ways. In Romans 1:26-27, homosexuality is described with these adjectives: shameful, unnatural, and indecent.

We cannot escape by claiming ignorance either. God exists and has made that fact known to all of us. Romans 1:19-20 (NIV) states, "since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse."

Those that are gay are sinners just like the rest of us. They are no worse sinners than those that lie, cheat, steal, gossip or anything else. In fact, I am convinced that these "external" sins are lesser than the "internal" sins of the heart (pride and rebellion being among the very worse).

God's desire is not to see sinners "burn in hell" but to "repent" and find forgiveness of their sins through Jesus Christ. But even God's desire gives way to man's freedom of choice. If we choose to live our lives without God here and now, He will respect that choice and allow us to live separated from Him in Hell for all eternity as well. It's my choice. It's your choice. What will we choose?
