i think it is an incredibly beautiful love song i think it is the most beautiful love song written in awhile... Vernon is a master of imagery "I'm in love with your honor." That lyric is like a hand reaching into my heart. |

| Regina Spektor – Samson Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| this song makes me cry. i mean, music can generally help me cry, when i am sad and i turn something on and then everything just spills out. but this song actually maes me cry, i mean, the story, the history that she gives to samson, it's just utterly beautiful. it makes me want to be in their love. the lyrics are easily my favorite. i cant even believe how perfect this song is. | |
| Nelly Furtado – Say It Right Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| an anthem for healing and moving on, this song is so empowering. | |
| Joni Mitchell – Both Sides Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| i love the contrast between the upbeat lighter version written when she was younger and the recent version--slow, heavy, deeper, harder. "both sides now" i think though means the good and the bad—she doesn't discount her experiences from when she was young as any less realistic than her adulthood--but she grew up and simply has more experience. she thought that by growing up you would learn more, but really life just becomes more illusive as you gain experience. she's been through it all. and you can really hear that in the second version. | |
| Beck – Farewell Ride Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| "riding the white horse" plus the word "line" is an allusion to cocaine use, however, there's a strong allusion to death also..."farewell ride," "burying ground." The slow, trudging tempo of the song with the chains in the backround sounds to me like these "horses" have been taking him down a long lingering road. He also says "some MAY say/this MAY be your LAST farewell ride" as in, there have been other farewell rides. The way the song tapers off in the end, you can almost see him riding off into the distance, thinking it's going to be his last...but it just keeps going... | |
