Dire Straits – Les Boys Lyrics 17 years ago
This has to be the stupidest song Knopfler ever wrote. I don't know what he was thinking.

Dire Straits – Once Upon A Time In The West Lyrics 17 years ago
The title "Once Upon a Time in the West" is just a homage to the film. It's about London's West End in the late 70s, using the American "Wild West" as an allegory.

I think it's about him being on tour with the band ("mean old town" is NYC in the mid-80s) and missing his loved one.

The Prodigy – Their Law Lyrics 19 years ago
Actually the song was a direct response to an Act of Parliament prohibiting large-scale raves in the mid 90s. Hence "crackdown at sundown".

King Crimson – One More Red Nightmare Lyrics 19 years ago
Until I read the lyrics (I never really listened closely to them although I know the song well) I thought this was about American 1950s communist paranoia, (hence the "Red") but it seems far less inspired and much more obvious now that I read the lyrics. Oh well.
