| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Turn Into Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Insloth, you could be right. I hadn't considered this song to be about cheating before, but now I see it probably is because... She's saying, "I know this about you, and I wish I could turn into you so that I could cheat on people and not feel guilty too. And I don't know why I didn't tell you I knew your secret before. " Notice how she leaves certain lines unfinished, like "The only thing I ever..." This is genius, because it purposefully leaves it open for us to fill in. The first one, to me, says "It's the only thing I ever think about." The second one could be "She'll turn into the only thing that ever matters to you" And no matter how hard she tries to put it behind them, it's all she can ever think about, and she can't undo what he has done or trust him. Okay, I have officially over-analyzed this song. If I ever meet Karen O, I am going to ask her what it really means. |

| Do you guys see parallels between Y Control and this song? | |
| Lauryn Hill – Adam Lives in Theory Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Wow, I never saw it that way. I always percieved this song as having many different meanings. The obvious one seems to be that people are spreading AIDS because they are ignorant to the disease, and believe they are in love. It could also mean that Eve and Adam have poisoned all of mankind with their sins. And then there's a theme of hope underlying all of this mess that humanity is in. I like this song, not for its obvious biblical references, but because it is very creative in telling a story that can be interpreted in many ways. |

| Tracy Chapman – At This Point In My Life Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| She is definitely warning her new man that she has made many, many mistakes in past relationships. She can't promise him anything, but she is going to give it her best shot. Truly a haunting song, it is so sad and yet hopeful. This is by far my favorite Tracy Chapman song, since it describes so fully how I feel every time I go into a new relationship. It's like my disclaimer: I'm pretty messed up, man! I might mess you up too!! | |
| Israel Kamakawiwo’ole – Somewhere Over The Rainbow Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song makes me want to cry as well, although I can't decide if that's because it makes me happy or sad. It's enchanting, almost haunting. I can put it on repeat and leave it there for hours. | |
| KT Tunstall – Silent Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It makes perfect sense to me: eventually, you become desensitized to people hurting you, and so you stop trying for a time, while you are dealing with the frustration of letting this happen to you AGAIN. I think the Silent Sea maybe means that she will be silent--not talk to another man who will inevitably do this to her. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Phenomena Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow, evanreyes, you're right. I never noticed that before, now it's going to bug me too! But, as all of the bandmembers are very intelligent, I am sure they realize this, and did it for a reason. What that reason could be, I have no idea. Ugh. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Modern Romance Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think you hit the nail on the head here, rose.parade. It's like everyone expects to have this glamorous Hollywood romance when, while that would be nice and all, it is beside the point. Romance is fleeting, true love is forever, but cannot be attained without compatibility and commitment. After some time, you see that it was the flowers and candy you loved, not the person. Or worse, they realize this about you. If anything, we should have learned that from Hollywood by now. Maybe the hidden track isn't opposite after all: she just realized that it isn't romance that matters, or what other people think. In this song she essentially says that it's simplicity and recovering from past failures that matter, not the plastic magic of hormones and fancy dinners. |

Thank you, rose.parade! After listening to this song more, I think I understand what she means by "I'll fall right in to keep you out." Right now I am moving in with someone I have only known for 3 months. I fell right in. But in a way, I am keeping him out since I get to kinda skip that awkward phase when he sees all of the terrible things in my personality. It's like I'm avoiding him getting to know me any better, and just going straight for the throat, so to speak, and maybe he will be distracted by all that is happening and not realize these traits I don't want him to see. Maybe he's falling in to keep me out as well. Scary... |

I thought she said, "I'll fall right in to keep you out," not "How far I am to keep you out." To me, this song is all about how when you get into a new relationship, you know that with love comes pain, inevitably, so it's hard to open up to someone new. As long as you never let someone in, you will never get hurt again. But at some point, we are helpless and can't protect ourselves from love. The Turn Into part could mean several things to me: Turn into stone so no one can get in (and hurt) you, turn into what that person wants you to be or expects you to be...Turn into someone with the courage to move forward, and open up in a new relationship despite the risks, etc... I don't know, does anyone else see it this way? |

TREXOR: I think I speak for pretty much everyone when I say that you need to get the fuck out of here. The name of this website is songmeanings.net, NOT insultoneofthegreatestbandseverandImanasshole.net Why don't you go listen to Creed or something. GET A LIFE If you don't like the new album, since it most definitely is real, then disregard it and find something better to do. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Modern Romance Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I always thought she said that time stops who it wants, not stops who we was... What about the hidden song? I haven't seen the lyrics for it on here, so here they are: Baby, I'm afraid of a lot of things But I ain't scared of loving you. And baby I know you're afraid of a lot of things But don't be scared of love. Cause people will say all kinds of things But that don't mean a damn to me Cause all I see is what's in front of me And that's you. Well, I've been dragged all over the place I've taken hits Time just don't erase. And baby I can see that you've been fucked with too, But that don't mean Your lovin' days are through. Cause people will say all kinds of things But that don't mean a damn to me Cause all I see is what's in front of me And that's you. Well I may be just a fool But I know we're just as cool And cool kids, they belong together. This seems like such an opposite song from Modern Romance. I love them both. |

This song is about her being angry with herself for going back to someone who has been cheating on her. Everyone knows that he's been cheating, and that her secret is that she's totally hooked on this guy, he's her weakness. andrizzle foo, was that the Denver show? That was one of the best concerts I've seen in a long time, Karen O has an incredible stage presence, and TONS of energy!! |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Art Star Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I went to see these guys in concert last weekend, Karen O did this crazy thing with the microphone during this song: While screaming ART STAR, she put the microphone into her mouth, the sound was incredible... This song is completely bipolar. Kind of along the same lines as what Gonzo Soul said, I think that the happy do do do part is like the teeny-bopper, radio play genre that the majority wants, and then the screaming is what is real: raw emotion that the rest of us want. Incredible, on the record, and live too. |

| She Wants Revenge – Tear You Apart Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I find this song to be very sexy...in a juvenile sort of way. It's all about wanting something you can't (or aren't supposed to) have. And we all know that when it's forbidden, we want it so much that when we finally get it, it's intense to the point where we could "tear it apart" because the pressure's been building...but the brightest lights burn out the quickest. This song is hot. | |
