Nice catch! Even though the melody isn't the same, I think the chorus has the same rhyming structure. ...never been seen (...you'll always be) ...age old dream (home-sweet-home to me) ...go together (good ol' Rocky Top) ...best right now, (Rocky Top, Tennessee) ...best right now. (Rocky Top, Tennessee) Good stuff! Meaning seems pretty easy to me. Jealous, controlling, insecure personalities will find it hard to keep someone around. I'd like to think most of us make this mistake once, and we hopefully learn from the experience. And to think I could have just read Neal's words and save the heartbreak :D |

Why can't all failed relationships end where both parties want nothing to do with each other ever again? It would make life much easier. However, the relationship related in this song seems much more common: the one's we never forget and always leave a sore spot on your heart that remains sensitive to the touch. The individuals we truly loved - and perhaps still do. We would give almost anything to try again but know the reality is rarely ever the same as the dream. Then again, Sarah, perhaps you should have called, you never know... |

Amazing song. Seems to be about a relationship where the author is in love with someone who's actions toward her don't seem to really reciprocate love but rather a reaction to his or her own loneliness. It makes me think of relationships where I've felt strongly about a person and sort of waited around for them to change their mind about ending the relationship until I ultimately reached a point where I realized I am merely a back-up plan - not worthy of sacrifice and the love I felt I gave. I really enjoy the line: "well this light of your life has drawn the blind" - it's time to move on. |
