Like others have said, I'm pretty sure it's about heroin. Black tar will "bubble and boil" when "on the hot tin foil." Both the effects of opiates and the addiction "stab like a dagger," and if you're loaded enough, they will definitely "make you stagger." Obviously if you're just getting totally loaded and nodding all the time, your mind "will surely spoil." And when you can't think anymore, you can't function in this world, thus "you sleep down in the soil." And the two primary ways you can ingest heroin are to "smoke or poke the poison," either chasing it off foil or shooting it up. I don't wanna bother going through all the rest, but it's pretty self-explanatory I think. |

TMF128, are you kidding? At least a solid 1/4 of NOFX's songs are HEAVY with drug references, especially in the past few years. It really doesn't matter one way or the other, it has nothing to do with the music. But based on lyrics and attitudes, I would most definitely say Mike does drugs and is not against their use. That lyric refers to the difference between recreation and addiction/habituation, not legal vs illegal. |
