I have always looked at the house of the rising sun being a prison. It makes the most sense to me. "Goin back to new orleans to wear that ball and chain". "A life of sin and misery". All seem to fit a prison. Awhore house also fits but what turns me off of that is that "its been the ruin of many a poor boy" Why would it ruin a boys life? Maybe originally a whore house coz the original lyrics deffinately fit but not the animals version |
