| OK...well IF you belive our bible-thumpin' buddies on CTS, Lucifer is the FUNCTION of the angel named SAMAEL, who along with his brother MICHAEL were the first, and only creations that god (note the lower case case 'g' is not a typo) made with his own hand. Everything else was created by Miachael and Samael. "Lucifer" actually means 'Light-Bringer' or 'Light-Bearer', usually in reference to Prometheuse who had a similar fate as Samael, getting slaped down for going against the will of the gods. Anywho, just wanted to point out that the name of the song may not have been as silly as every body thinks. Then again, who fu**in' knows with Floyd, right? Maybe Sid had a really evil drug-dealer named Sam? Oh that Sid, what a silly arse! My goodness. | |

Hey naptownmandy, thanx 4 the corrected lyrics. But you've gotta know their lies From the lies they've told you I felt like that was what I was hearing...not the lyrics posted above. That's important bcuz for me this is the hook-point of the song. As I alluded to above it is very important to be able to seperate the stoopidBS that people believe and honestly but mistakenly tell you in an effort to steer you right (eg, my family, the church, society) as opposed to the flat-out liars that are trying to f*** my life up by lying to me for their own benefit (eg: my FAMIL...the CHURCH...and definitely SOCIETY). Hey...funny how the same people can fit into both categories, ain't it? Do you know anyone like that? Unfortunately for me I know about 6 billion of them. |

"But youve got another life From the lies they told you" To me, this song sounds like an internal as well as an external struggle. What I take from these lines is that one has to be active in defining oneself against the backdrop of social pressures. The most insidious are those who love us...as related in "It's all Gonna Break". I cannot look around at this world and recognize ANY moral authority that is both legitimate and qualified to set such an example that I would surrender my personal soveriegnty to follow. It's so important to distinguish the lies that others tell you from the lies that people tell themselves. Peace. |
