Anybody who is still trying to say this is about Tookie is not very good at thinking analytically. You have the right to believe whatever you want, but realize that you're ignoring the obvious here. Line by line, GWB v Tookie: "As they tightly strap me in, give me lethal injection I've just a few moments to live, I've no remorse for what I did" GWB: No remorse for his actions, about to die for them. Tookie: No remorse for his actions, about to die for them? Sorry, wasn't the whole point that Tookie was a changed man and was, indeed, very sorrowful for his actions? "It was for the benefit of man, I made the utmost sacrifice Before more damage could be done I took his life" GWB: GWB is responsible for a lot of damage, in many people's eyes. The protagonist, realizing that he would be sacrificing his own life in the process, decides to make the sacrifice and murder GWB. Tookie: Which sacrifice did Tookie make? Which additional damage is Tookie thwarting by murdering innocent people? "There was a split second of silence when the dart punctured the skin Beady eyes rolled back in head, the body dropped from the poison" GWB: GWB's characteristically beady eyes roll back in his head after protagonist shoots him with a poison dart. Tookie: I guess there's an argument that this is about Tookie getting the needle, but I've never heard anyone describe his "beady eyes." "They could incapacitate me but could not erase my sneer I heard a thousand people screaming, I know three billion others cheered" GWB: Antagonist is smiling even while being brought down by secret service. A thousand people, a metaphor for GWB's constituency, screamed, while 3 billion, the global community, cheered for his death. Tookie: Why would they be incapacitating Tookie? I would imagine he'd be strapped in and that's the end of it. Why would Tookie be sneering? "He was gone and I would soon be Executed by the state, all appeals would be in vain I was not criminally insane, in fact I was found to be An otherwise caring and respectable member of society A minor threat except for that one man I killed" GWB: GWB dead, and illustrating that otherwise rational people hate GWB with an intense passion. He's soon to be executed. Tookie: Here's where Tookie really falls apart. According to your explanation, he was killed in the last stanza. "He was gone, and I would soon be..." So who was gone? I thought it was Tookie, so how is he being executed again? "As the sedatives take effect, I just smile, close my eyes There's a priest kneeling next to me, he asks me if I realize I was going straight to hell and he thought that I should know That the man I killed's replacement planned this whole scenario And what I did would make no difference" GWB: Dick Cheney planned for this to happen. GWB really wasn't the problem, but the administration behind him. Tookie: Um, there's no explanation for how this could relate to Tookie. None. In conclusion: If you still believe this is about Tookie, you're ignoring the obvious and/or under the age of 12 and/or mentally retarded. |

| The Tookie explanation is the stupidest thing I've ever read. Line by line, it makes no sense at all. Tookie didn't show remorse? Made the ultimate sacrifice? For the good of man? Was Tookie shot with a dart gun? Were a billion people happy about what Tookie did? Was Tookie an otherwise caring and respectable member of society at the time when he murdered three or four people? Did the kids Tookie murdered have a replacement that planned the whole thing? It's assholes like you who jump down people's throats for what is most likely the correct answer, while presenting some convoluted, non-thought-out pile of dogshit. Man, your confidence in such a piece of shit explanation has really annoyed me... | |
