ok, just wanna say i love this song, it is definately the best track on the album. It took a while to get into but now i cant stop listening to it! So, lyrics, i dont really get what this song it about, but as a guess i would say it was about someone wanting to believe in god and wanting some "divine intervention" to help him believe. Well, i dunno, something like that anyway. Anyone alse get that? |

ok, my theory is that he sings about how jesus died and although people mourned, they ws all happy cos he died to save them and all that. So this dudes thinking bout dying but doesnt want the people he llives to be heartbroken. "Can i make beauty stay if i take my life". I think that he wants everyone to stay happy when he dies, sort of like jesus when he died. I think all the time he refers to "he" is talking bout jesus and he comperes himself to him. thats what i think anyway. |

ok, ive just been looking through all the things that people have posted, and i just think totally different to what everyone alse has said. I think people are reading way too much into this one and that if you just listen to what he's saying, its really simple. I see the song as been about hospital cubicles, where two friends have found themselves in hospital and one of them has died and the other is mourning. It makes sense cos it talks about "the view outside is sterile", as in a hospital is sterile, and also "a condition and its terminal" sort of suggests this person knows their going to die, and their going to die alone because their friend has gone. when it talks about "a stand in for your face" i think that could mean the bed has been taken by someone else, and its like only temporary because that new person will either die or get well. just read back the lyrics, it does make sense. oh yeah, and "pin-pricks in the velvet break our fall" could be sort of like injected drugs to prevent the person faliing into unconciousness, or worse sickness, or something like that. Anyway, thats what i think. |

sorry but i disagree. I think that its got something to do with war, and how there is so much war in the world, that people who are not in the war are not really effected, mentaly, if you know what i mean. Everyones gone cold hearted "the new demonic realm", i think that makes sense anyway. |

I think its about a relationship that going nowhere, and both of them know it but dont want to be the one to break it off. "we're feeling so anesthetised In our comfort zone", this is about how their so comfy with each other, nothings happening, nothing going forward. "We're running out of alibis" Maybe this has got something to do with how their running out of stuff to say? "Reminds me of the summer time On this winter's day" I sorta saw this as a way of describing how their reationship used to be (metaphor: summer time) and what it is now (winter's day). Theres loads of other stuff as well, like "Every step we take that's synchronized" meaning their too similar, their predicatable to each other, and "Reminds me that it's killing time" could mean their killing time by staying in this relationship when it going nowhere. Also, i think when he says "see you at the bitter end" he's referring to when they do finally break it off, he's like saying that they both know it coming, so see you there. And its also sort of sarky because he calls it a bitter end and ending relationships is meant to be bitter, when really its gonna be a relief for both of them to end it. Anyway, thats what i think. Anyone wanna challenge me? |
