| The Mountain Goats – How to Embrace a Swamp Creature Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I just saw them last night, and they did confirm that it was about having sex - not necessarily with an ex girlfriend, but someone that you know very well you should not be sleeping with, but do it anyway. | |
| The Mountain Goats – Ezekiel 7 and the Permanent Efficacy of Grace Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Just saw the MGs last night in concert. John talked about this song a little bit before playing it. He said that it was about someone being tortured to death. Pretty dark. Even knowing that, it is hard to understand the meaning, I feel like maybe it is someone on the verge of death, and when being tortured that he is just trying to focus on anything else he can. |

I just saw the Mountain Goats last night in Chicago. John talked about the meanings of a few songs before they played them, and this was one. He talked about how many people have interpreted this as being a very happy song, stemming from the uplifting sound and seemingly optimistic chorus. However, he actually described the song as being someone who is more or less at the end of their rope, but maybe has one thing left that is keeping them from complete despair. The song is about someone who is extremely depressed, and just barely holding on. |

| Sun Kil Moon – Duk Koo Kim Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| This song is a tribute to the South Korean boxer named Duk Koo Kim. In 1982 he fought Ray Mancini, who at the time was the world lightweight champion. In the fourteenth round of the fight (this song is fourteen minutes long) Duk Koo Kim was knocked down and the fight was stopped. Within minutes he fell into a coma, and within the week he died. Within roughly a year's time both the referee of the match and Kim's mother commited suicide. The fight had been on national television and led to many changes in the sport. | |
