Whenever I hear this song, all I can think of is what my Dad always says. When he was 18 he joined the airforce and didn't expect to live past 20. |

On IMDB, in Moulin Rouge!'s trivia section, it said Tim auditioned for the part of Christian, and that led him to write this song. Just throwing that out there. |

I love this song, with or without lyrics. Sandra's voice sounds so haunting at the beginning of the song. And I LOVE the cellos. This is the first song I've heard from them, so I don't know if they always just use cellos or not. I need to listen to more of their songs. And I agree with mxthunder. When I first heard the song I thought they were using violins, until I saw the music video. |

All right. This is driving me crazy and I can't figure it out. The way they put the emphasis on the syllables of 'Sanctus Espiritus' is very familiar to me. I'm sure I've heard it before, from another song - not the words Sanctus Espiritus, but the way it's said, the up and down inflections of it. Is it familiar to anyone else? If so, where have you heard it before? |

This song is amazing. The music itself is a masterpiece. The lyrics are icing on the cake. And while I did like Tarja's singing, Anette's voice is marvelous, too. I still cherish the old songs, but I'm loving every new song as well. Even with a different singing voice, it's really the music that holds it all together. |

I love this song. It did freak me out the first time I heard it, and my mother came in and asked what horror movie I was watching when she heard the first part >.< I love it, though. Perfect song to play on Halloween night. Corny, but it has a good beat. |

Such a sad song, and his voice is amazing, not only with this song, but with every one he sings. I'm just disappointed that I never heard of him until I came across the video of this song on youtube. |

"and nobody, of the 24 injured, was eaten." ItTakesAShoob, it wasn't meant to be taken literally. "Our species eat the wounded ones" could be taken as just killing the weaker, not necessarily eating them. |

What is the guy whispering at the beginning and end of the song? I can hear "Where are we now? Almost to" and then what? It kind of sounds like Camelot, but I doubt it's that. Anyone know? |

It can't be about drugs.
"To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny"
Note the 'like'. It's a simile, not a statement. If he was talking about drugs, then why put the simile in there? |

Your love to me now has to die
Forgive me, I need more than you can offer me"
I don't think she's in love with someone else. I could just mean that she has something else she needs to do(like finding her father in the forest), and she can't focus on love right then. |

Oh, this song means so much to the students at my school. The drama and choir classes have fun with this play and sing the songs often. At the end of the year everyone who knew the song was asked to sing it during the end-of-year assembly. It was touching. |

Every time I hear this song it takes my breath away. The two different styles of music fit together so perfectly and the voices add such enthusiasm and feeling into it. MUCH kudos to the one -or ones- who cast the film. They chose the perfect people to fit the parts. |

I only cried at the very end of the movie the first time I saw it. My friend had brought it to a sleepover because none of us had seen it before except her. We all had tears in our eyes when Satine died. And the rest of the movie has such passion and energy to it, it's beautiful. This has got to be one of the best movies ever made. |

Purechaosbass, it's from David Bowie's Heroes. I think the actual words in his version is "And we, we can be lovers" or something like that. Either way, it's from David Bowie. |

She also lives in Ireland doesn't she? Therefore, no one here should care whether she speaks english or not. If she was an immigrant, I could understand the protests against other languages, but she isn't one, so it doesn't matter. She sings beautifully in any language and that's all that matters. |

For goodness' sakes. It's not about cameras or satellites! It might fit with the chorus, but look at the other verses. It just doesn't work. It's about a relationship like SomeRandomGirl, Neo2005, and Pengy said.... And I have no clue why The Civilizer put what they did...how odd. |

Remember, Lost and Damned, the song is refering to the past, so the Beast is being called "a beast" because it's what he was in the past, even if it wasn't what he is now. Almost poking fun (affectionately) at his past nickname. |

| The Phantom Of The Opera – Learn to Be Lonely Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I think of this as the conciounce (sp) of Eric the phantom when he was young and just realizing how his "deformity" affects his life. He knows he'll always be alone, and he accepts this, even though he longs to be loved. "Learn to find your way in darkness" This could have a double meaning. Either this is when he is brought to the opera house and begins to live underground. With little light, he must learn to find his way through the labrynth. That, or it's referring to him having to go about things on his own without expecting help from anyone.
On another note, Mini Driver sings this song beautifully and it's one of my favorites. It puts you in the mind of the phantom. |

well, I think it was written specifically for Phantom of the Opera, so it's kind of obvious what it means. It's as if Eric (the phantom) is thinking to himself about what he has to do now. Learn to be lonely because of his looks. It's sad and Mini sings it beautifully. I find it amazing that she played Carlotta, even if she didn't sing the part. :p |
