After listening to this song with slow speed and tempo, but high pitch, I STILL can't guaruntee wether he says "diners" or "time has" but If I had to guess i would say "Diners" is the correct lyric. Both make sense though. |

My interpretation would be is that it's about a girl he likes that doesn't share the same feeling. I'd say ti was in the friends stage and he would eb trying to get together with her. "Make your move Obvious humor" Any move he tries to make on her ends up being shut down, he tries so often it becomes funny to him. "Dressed to impress ill be the last one to find out why" She's always dressing up to attract other guys. And he knows that she's obviously not dresing up niecly for him. "Time takes its toll on us" The longer he tries the harder it weighs him down, and the worse it gets for her. "This changes everything Id be a liar to deny you at all Now that I know This changes everything" He finds out some disturbing information of her being with other men. It changes his whole eprspective on her but in the end, he couldn't deny wanting to be with her if she suddenly started liking him. "Ive been trading ideas with intriguing men Over and over again I percieve an honest solution To all your problems (pride)" He's been talking about his problems with friends about what to do, and someone suggests cutting her out and having more pride in himself. "Remove from home I promise to write There is no gift without a price" Him being away from home often, thinking about her, decides to write letters and such. But it's not about trying to keep a friednship with her, like she might think, because every gift (letter) has a price (he wants her to want him back) "The amplifier screams out loud The last times wave your hands At the audience as you sink in This last chance to hide you need desperately so" Him writing singing songs about her, and expressing his emotion to his fans listening and useing it as therapy. "Motion gives up on you in the end i'll try my best to be home by then" In the end he'll be the only guy that cares about her unlike the other. When she realises it he'll try his best to be there for her. "You'll see the grace we had You'll never have... Im going home but my own way Im going home by my own I would really love if youd sit him down Pull this thread " She'll realise how good it was when they were together. But by now the end of the song/story, he's made up his mind that she doesn't deserve him and that he's moving on. He just wants her to sit down with him one last time so he can finally put his feelings to rest. The band interpretation is a good one too. But this is just what I feel when I listen to it. |

To me I'd say this song was about an ex or girl he used to see, and now she wasn't interested in him anymore, but he still was in her. And that one time they would be drinking with freinds and she'd end up puking so he'd take care of her all night "holding her hair back" and making sure she's safe "we're offering nothing but the best accomodations" and not taking advantage of her while doing so "purely courteous across her chest" But then in the morning she had forgotten or didn't want to thank him for what he had done for her. Well that's what I'd say anyway, but the previous suggestions all make sense aswell. |
