T_T i think this song is about some kind of delusions the lead singer was having. a girl he liked must've died and he suddenly felt responsible for it. he tries to tell himself he didn't kill the girl; he hopes he's only dreaming. he doesn't want her to be dead. |

kurt is dead. therefore, theres no possible way of proving that you're "right" about what you think this song means. songmeanings was created to give people a chance to chat about their opinions on meanings of songs, not for immature swots to tell people their opinions are 'wrong'. i don't understand why people go that deep into the song; it's most likely that Kurt Cobain didn't write his songs metaphorically. especially since this song is so short. anyways i'm not so sure about the whole 'living under a bridge' theory, but he did runaway from his home&parents when they divorced. the metaphorical meaning is still a possibility.. it's just, why would Kurt bother wasting that much time on creating metaphorical lyrics for THIS song. why not a more significant Nirvana songs like "Come as you are", "drain you", or "in bloom" ? |

i don't think any of you have looked at the URL written in the address bar of your browser. it says 'songMEANINGS.net' not 'TELLUSWHATYOUTHINKOFTHEBANDSYOULIKEANDDISLIKE.net' anyways. i think this song is obviously about a girl that the lead singer recently met. he doesn't know her very well but he's already obsessed with her ('you've got this new head filled up with smoke.') being infatuated, he's fully willing to make a commitment to their relationship, but she is wary of commitment ("You start shaking at the thought, You are everything I want"). "I trip over everything you say, I just wanna break you down so badly" suggests that he gets offended at any little remark she might make, and when he does he feels angry.. because he has his heart set on her and only her but she doesn't understand. she makes a joke of it? and it pisses him off. "Hangover hobby kit it talks, It says 'You, oh, you are so cool'" in that line he is probably referring to the many times that he has been drunk because of her, and how cool he is, getting hang-overs over and over because of the same girl. "And we lay, we lay together, Just not too close, too close" he is always attempting to get close, so he tries to get more intimate with her, but she is always shying away, possibly fearing commitment. "I'm gonna make damn sure That you can't ever leave No you won't ever get too far from me You won't ever get too far from me" he is finally saying that even though she doesn't want commitment, and even though she doesn't love him like he loves her, he will never give up. he will do whatever it takes to make her realize that he loves her and that she needs to be at his side. he is 'damn sure' of it and he intends to let her know. overall, a good song. in my opinion TBS' writing has not downgraded in quality, just the quantity of different lyrics. they repeat lyrics more often in ttheir new songs. peace. |

"and we've got the perfect shirts, our pants so tight they fucking hurt" 'the perfect shirts' - the stereotypical image of a 'scenester' / 'emo' clad in a traditional band shirt and the signature tight pants which are a must for you to wear if you wish to be counted as part of 'the scene'. i mean seriously, all you 'scene'/'emo' guys out there, give your trouser-snake some room to breathe. | I agree with LoneSouldier, I think he's pretty much got the meaning of this song. Anyways, "Dont wait" is okay.. but DC has changed in my opinion. Chris is trying for the whole 80s approach.. I think he should just stick with pure acoustic. But DC will always remain one of my favorites. I'm pretty sure Dashboard will not be fizzing out of the industry anytime soon. Peace out | |

The meaning of this song couldn't be clearer. It's saying that the lead singer doesn't believe in dressing a certain way just to fit in the "scene".. "What's the point of a fucking scene base of fashion, pretense, and authority keep your rules and your fucked up dreams, I'm to fucking sexy for this scene" He's saying that he doesn't want to be a part of the "scene" which doesn't focus on the music but instead focuses on what kind of clothings, fashions etc. that you wear. So since there are so many expectations for being a "part" of the scene he is saying that he is just too sexy for it.. meaning that he doesn't want to be a part of it since he cannot fit into the ideals/expectations required. Anyways an overall good song... I really do agree with the lead singer on his ideals. |

JamisonParker reminds me of Dashboard Confessional. Which isn't such a bad thing since Dashboard Confessional is fucking awesome. o_o The meaning is obviously some guy trying to get over his girlfriend but he's still remembering every word she said. "What you call "misery through anxious eyes" That probably means he's still anxious to talk to her but there will always be a certain misery in his eyes too. Hah.. that's what I think. Toodles. |
