This song means the world to me it's helped me through all the sh*t ive been through recently and if it were'nt for Crossfade and their meaningful lyrics, i, i dunno where id be!!! most likely living in a hole or else doing some really random crazy stuff! all in all, this song i believe portrays how so many people leave things behind; whether that be a friend, family, a loved one or their own souls. sad yes, but this song brings forth all there is to know about how many people deal with losses and grief and how anger can overwhelm ones feelings and make them close off the world around them. also, here in the lyrics, Crossfade makes the point: "What could you possibly want from me Can't you see I'm already gone Everything we thought we'd be I still don't feel sorry for this loss" meaning that because someone left something/someone, they cannot understand why they are wanted back when they were rejected before. petty and simple, id recommend this song be played at my funeral; or else really loudly to cover up the sound of me crying... depressed? you could call me that |

| Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |

hmm all you guys are wrong. you know why? coz i said so! lol..nah just kidding i believe this song has more meaning than u think... Right Now, Blink 182 has broken up; well dah! but the main reason for this song was to get it out to all those young people who believe their lives are meaningless and worthless and that they can solve everything by killing themselves, or commiting suicide. sadly, almost 7% of the worlds population is suicidal or has thought about death in one way or another or belives that death will get them out of all the crap they got into. but anyways, enough about the world, this song relates it better than anyone can really describe in a mere few words or sentence. the main message is that this boy, "supposedly named Adam" is planning to commit suicide firstly by electrocuting himself using the power point or some electrical item but that plan fails as the cord "wasn't plugged in at all". he also tried to take his time in deciding whether it was really worth while dying, but after time he "hurried up" and the choice was his but he "didnt think enough". he was too depressed in his life and he wanted everyone to be sorry when he was gone for not caring how he felt. *this is all in the first stanza/ lyrics paragrah thing* the main chorus is "adam" saying that being 16 years old, which is presumably the age he died at, "held such better day, day when" he "still felt alive, i we couldnt wait to get outside." the ending part of this chorus "i couldnt wait til i got home, to pass the time in my room alone" means that he wanted to spend time alone to cry/ponder/think and or plan the ways he was to die or to think over why he wanted to die... I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to my friends You'll never set foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault this part of the song is relating to how he thought he would be treated after he died; his room would be closed off and no one would enter it again. and that he was going to give all his things to all his friends... the part about the apple juice is not what it seems...it is refering to a time when "adam" cut his wrists in the hallway - the 'applejuice' being his blood, and a 'cup' of it being alot of blood! He wanted his mum to kno that none of his suicidal acts were her fault. In the end chorus, it is describing the above parts again, where if he was still alive he could have enjoyed himself and there were plenty of things out there for him. Also, notice the change in the last lines... it refers to himself: Days when (I) can still feel alive When (I) cant wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, (I) survived (I) can't wait 'til (I) get home To pass the time in (my) room alone here he is excluding his friends and family and wanting his privacy to finish what he ment to do... and in the end, most likely, he does commit suicide...... amazingly, this song has convnced many young people that commiting suicide is wrong. but sadly on the same scale, has also INSPIRED some to want to kill themselves... Shamefully, I was one of those few inspired...i was going to use this song as a note for my friends and family, but i thought it over and realised how shallow it was; to die and leave the lyrics of a song...! really, what i should do is leave the lyrics and on the back write a brief description WHY they relate to me and how it helped me through this... but then again, id rather be forgotten and die without a cause; or so what my friends and family would think . . . . . |
