i think the whole song is a metaphor of life. the 'best party' refers to the path you choose to go in life. you're standing in a very boring party (=life) waiting for something to happen. wanting someone to shake some salt in your life. it seems everyone is having a good time while you are on the ground. as the "party" continues you try to make the most of it, you try to socialize but all in all you just don't want to end the ride in vain. |

first of all- this is one of my favourite radiohead songs. we are all waiting for somthing- wheather if it is a great job, having lots of money, or finding true love. we want to feel like we accomplished something in life. the song describes my biggest fear- gettin to a certain point and feel that i lived my life in vain. that there is no big award in the end. |
