I never understood the appeal. The lyrics make me cringe and it's generally pretty vomit-worthy. I mean, "And you bleed just to know you're alive"? Give me a break. |

| Fall Out Boy – Don't You Know Who I Think I Am? Lyrics

abrandnewnovember, it's a twist on a typical "Don't you know who I am?!" sort of proclamation. Supposedly Pete Wentz heard someone actually say it, but I recognised it from an old Libertines lyric ('The Boy Looked At Johnny') so hmm... |

I don't reckon it's intentional, but parts of this song strongly remind me of passages from Sophocles' "Electra"... |

This is lovely but anyone noticed the real similarity to The Cure's 'Boys Don't Cry'? Not quite in style, obviously, but melody-wise... |

I wonder if The Borrell's attempting use of 'America' in a sort of Simon & Garfunkel manner, aka. the ideal? He talks about restlessness and unhappiness and how it's parallel to the 'trouble in America', and all that. And it also works literally speaking, I suppose, though while being really rather simple.
(Of course, this IS Razorlight, so it could just be a load of gobshite, really.) |

Wonderfully articulate. I'd agree with majormajor and say that, especially considering that line, this song is definitely focused on Carl. Which just makes the 'lover' lyric all the more interesting, eh? |

That's pretty random, to assume it's about a pregnancy. The entire song suggests it's centered around the sex act; considering the other lyrics, when I hear 'One night to push and scream/And then relief ', my mind doesn't exactly jump to the thought of giving birth.
Anyway. Nice cover, but can't beat The Knife's original. |

I really don't want to write too much of what I think is 'behind' this song for fear of ruining it, but I think it's mainly on the theme of adaptation and changing who you are to fit someone else, or the person that you want to be; how he describes himself as a writer, a moneylender, etc etc.... but when it all boils down to it he is the same man and that'll continue down for generations (both figuratively and literally) .... "so will be my grandson". |

Very nice from a musical perspective, but the lyrics are pretty dull, and generally very cliched. Of course, I doubt this'll be picked up on, what with them being a 'fresh new indie band', or whatever. |
