I listened to the Lateralus album when I took some mescalne, and it was an endurance test a lot of the time. Mesc is taken to dive deep into your thouhts and face your fears, and then accept and heal the damage. When this song came on, it was like Mayard was experiencing the same thing I was, and was guiding me through the pain. The entire album is like a guide for getting through the mind trip. |

this was written after the lead singer for everlast had some sort of rare heart attack. its about not knowing if you're going to live tomorrow and for everyone to put your lights on to see what is really going on. The children are the only pure ones. |

| A Perfect Circle – Annihilation Lyrics

Damn, everybody seems to have forgotten this song. It's about not just Bush, but large government structures as a whole. They try to keep the people ignorant by keeping them comfortably numb (Ignorance is bliss). The ones with power control everything around them. "Life's no ordeal if you come to terms"- Life is not an unpleasant experience if you can just accept it as it is. The American people are so afraid, they'll give up civil rights just for the illusion of security. The more we take up arms, the faster we are heading for destruction. Most of Americans are subconciously going on with their everyday lives, while we have the power to overthrow any government official if we wish. But being passive and just bitching on the internet seems to be the best we can do. |

I agree with darkanj3l, all that really matters in the mainstream these days is the beat. This has a nice bassline, catchy xylophone thingy, and some cool random noises. It's becoming a bad thing though, because the lyrics on most mainstream songs suck. Club bangers are the only Rap and R&B songs that are on MTV. But this song is still cool.... |

No one's commented.... This is old school Jay-Z at his best. Reasonable Doubt is his best Album besides The Black Album. His rhyming back then seems fresher than it does now. Guess it's because he was hungry at the time and now he can do whatever he wants. |

Jay-Z and Nas are two of the best rappers out there. This song is better than Ether. I can't wait for Nas' album that's going to have both of them on a record. Jay-Z needs to squash Cam, I'm getting tired of his pink Hummer. |

Damn, no one has commented on this song yet. I just downloaded this song after hearing it on Don't Be a Menace. It's fuckin funny when this song is playing when grandma is smokin a joint and when she's bouncin down the street. Rza makes the some of the beast beats and the Wu Tang crew matches it with slick lyrics and rhyme shcemes.

"Devour to survive. So it is, so it's always been. We all feed on tragedy. It's like blood to a vampire."
He's saying that to sustain life, you need to take life. Everything that is alive takes life from something else. Tragedy is all over the place, we just recognize certain tragedies, mostly the ones that impact us directly. |

I just got the Wu-Tang Manual by RZA. It provides in depth information about what they're all about. The 5 percent Nation is true, but they dont believe the whites are devils. They believe out of the worlds population, 5 percent are enlightened, 85 percent are not, and 10 percent are but intentionally keep other people ignorant. If you really think about it, its true. Get the book if you are interested in Wu Tang at any level. |

"This is why me and you couldn't work our Nia."
"Do you know who I am!?"
"I know who you are, I just said your name!" |

| Kanye West – Jesus Walks Lyrics

|
I love Kanye's beats. Especially Jesus Walks because it's so theatrical. The beat controls your emotions from being subtle to building up to a climax. He said that when he makes beats he makes it like he were making a movie. He paints pictures in your mind. And I love it when the song fades out all you hear is "Jesus Walks with me..with me.." and fades into "Neverl Let Me Down." The beginning sounds very theatrical and he used it for the end of the Jesus Walks videos.(all 4 of them I think). And why would people want to hate Jesus? Of All people! I'm not a christian and don't believe in the Bible, but that doesn't take anything away from somebody like Jesus.People are always gonna hate no matter who you are or what you do. Keep doin your thing Kanye. |

I love this song. They rap about all sorts of real shit. This isn't glamerous gangsta living, its showing what some people have to do to get by, and always having to look over your shoulder. If you feel the odds are against you, look it straight in the eyes and take it head on with your head up high. |

This song is one of Tupac's best. And this song isn't about bling and shotties. If you feel it, it's supposed to hit you live a 12 guage shotty. Tupac reached people because he understood people's state of mind. And rap isn't intelligent? Let's see some of you put together rhythms and rhyme schemes like Tupac or Nas. You watch too much MTV. Most haters can't understand other people's lifestyles because its so different than what they see on a day to day basis |

| Tool – Third Eye Lyrics

I heard this song when I was younger and I really didn't understand all of it then. But my brother recently showed me this song and explained it all to me in a musical and philisophical sense. And above all I was shroomin, and earlier i started to think very abstract yet very basic and sensical thoughts that most people blow over on a daily basis. My body flowed with the energy this song made and was one of the craziest experiences with music i've ever had. And "prying open my third eye" kept circulating in my head along with lateralus' "feed my will to feel this moment." I fell asleep with the cd on repeat and I remember hearing the songs in my sleep. But when i woke up the "high" had left and I couldn't remember all of the important things I had thought about the night before. Sucked ass to say the least. But yeah maybe maynard wasn't on any drugs when he made this song as "prying" is him trying as hard as he can to achieve it. I've heard a saying that says taking drugs takes you to the ocean of knowledge, but you drown because you have no control. But being enlightened is being able to get there and being able to swim. |

This song is fuckin tight. It has a catchy beat and their flow bounces perfectly with it. Its a little different than what they used to put out, but you gotta progress to stay. And for people for the goofy ass people who post dumbass comments on songs they don't like, get a fucking life. Quit going from song to song trying to plant your stupid ass seed everywhere. You're just mad because hip-hop is the dominant genre of music at the time. I bet your pussy ass listened to the boy bands when they were on MTV, because you only know the songs that come on there. Stay off the smokin songs and try to drink some watered down KD. |
