Paradox, it might be right waht you're saying, but if the song is about a woman being in love with a woman, then why : I wanna be a girl like you. ? I'd say "I do" is a simple lovesong from someone like brian: A male falling (or trying to fall) in love with a girl. And when lou look at brian all this "I wanna be a girl like you" etc. makes sence. Thats the way he is I think. So i think the song is wonderful ! |

Well, first of all: the song is one of Placebos greatest !!! I think it's about a girl he dated ( just for for getting layed ?) but he really got annoyed by her, and maybe in rage he did something really bad to her. Can't imagine what, but he apoplogises a lot for it ( And I don't think it sounds that empty, and he repeats it that often...) To me it just seems like he abused this girl he somehow likes ( otherwise he wouldn't apologise) and who somehow annoys him. She maybe wanted more (...), maybe she fell in love, so got on his nerves or something and he hit her or started talking shit about her or just destroying her, i really don't know.. Well, simply love it |

Even if this (wonderful) song is about hope and so on it just doesn't seem to "pick me up" when I'm down. It's terribly sad, melody and the sadness which is expressed in the song ( Yes: sadness. I mean you need hope when you'r down, and the song fits one of these moments) just makes me more hopeless when I hear it. A song for REALLY bad times ! |

In my opinion he just sings about a person he loves but he can't have her, because there is someone else who is spending his afternoon between her tighs, for him her gazes are hypnotic, he just can't help falling into her. Maybe he even apologizes for loving her. It is also possible that he mentiones her tears and her confusion because she knows about him and his feelings what makes her think about him and what she might feel.. hm, i don't know... And Leaktotally, you're absolutely right, he really sounds like he would burst into tears, but it's not that obvious I just heard it after you gave that hint.. Whatever its meaning might be, wonderful song |

In my opinion the song is about a relationship wich is going to have a bad (bitter) ending. maybe even with him committing suicide and killing her (thats the picture that comes to my head when he sings "see YOU at the bitter end". She might not be the one he thaught she was "Every step we take that synchronised, every broken bone" what hurts him "broken bone"... "You shower me with lullabies" could mean that she blinds him, so he can not see her real "identity" Well, I don't know what the song means exactly, think I should better just enjoy it... Great song |

To me it sounds like someone who should keep drugs (for a dealer or something) tries to explain on the phone that he can't find them. He is confused. He is so nervous that he starts to stammer. Maybe he has taken drugs before, too. The "stop" could mean someone is intimidating him, he is scared and wants the person on the other end to stop. Thats what I thaught when I heard it first after I finally had found the lyrics. Before I could only understand half of what was actually said because of the mumbling... however, grat song (must be - it's Placebo :) ) |
