God, Petrucci's lyrics used to be incredible!
I wonder if he's referring to any specific "twentieth century icon" in that line - can anyone think of any Cassandra-like prophet figures whose predictions were met with disdain? (or something less literally like Cassandra, of course) |

That's pretty straightforward, just social commentary on the media/tabloids' fixation on the private lives of public figures and celebrities - and their willingness to print any rumour or half-truth. Going beyond that, maybe Petrucci's suggesting society in general has adopted that kind of mentality - quick to assume, hence "we've lost the truth to quicksand"? |

Frank's daughter Moon Unit does vocals on it - but she obviously didn't ACTUALLY speak like that... he'd probably disown her or something. :P
The whole point was to parody "Valspeak", but ironically the song actually popularized it even more... |
