| The Mars Volta – Vicarious Atonement Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Vicarious Atonement is the theory that the atonement of Jesus Christ was legal in God's eyes. Jesus died in the place of the humans that sinned. | |

Wow, this last song seems pretty vague at first, and it still does, but this is what i'm thinking. Beware, I've only pieced together certain parts. I think that the gaurd might have had a relationship with Kezia when they were teenagers. Because it says, "Sometimes when fundamentals meet teenage heartbreak Some of us are all of us; half-selves that love whole hopes And hara-kiri heartbreak" First off, Hara-Kiri is when a person comits suicide on themselves, traditionally from a sword like Japanese Samarui. So, I take it that they broke up purposely, because maybe Kezia had found her calling when it says "half selves that love whole hopes." But then again, I could have it wrong. "The only proof that I have that we shot and killed this horse Is the sounds of whips on flesh and a bleeding heart remorse When I'm In this state of reflection and you hand me whips And two by fours I could never bring them down and beat the same horse as before" I take this as the Prison Guard saying that he will never kill anyone again. Which shows that either he walked away from killing Kezia or he went through with it. Either way, this shows that he has vowed to not do it ever again. And I agree with "Gabbagabba" that maybe her death, though unfortunate, did ulitimately make things better. If anyone has any other thoughts, or anything to add to what I said, or anything in general regaurding my opinions, please respond. |

| Protest the Hero – Turn Soonest to the Sea Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I interprit the line "You'll be asking for your rib and I'll smile and call you brave" As a man asking for a woman to give herself up for him. Because Adam gave up his rib so Eve could sprout herself from it. However, there are a few things I don't understand. Firstly, was Kezia a prostitute? Was this why she was sent to prison? Possibly a prosititute to provide for her family? And secondly, "I'll know our city is in ruins when the greatest source of pride is a monument of dicks and ribs and gender crowns we wore Where underneath, a plaque will read, A plaque will read: "No woman is a whore" " This part is a little confusing to me. I know it says that our city will be in ruins when our greatest source of pride is Man, so to speak, so why does it say "No woman is a whore" at the bottom? Wouldn't that be a good thing? I can only see that being a bad thing if this was told from like a male's point of view, but it's obviously Kezia's. If anyone can answer my questions I'd be most appreciative. |

| Christian Death – Romeo's Distress Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I actually don't think it HAS to do with Christianity. I think he just uses the allusion to christ's inflictions as a metaphor for something. At first I thought it had to do with the KKK. I mean, look at the first line "Burning crosses on a Nigger's Lawn. What's A house without a home" and also "dance in your white sheet glory." The KKK wore white sheets. But then again, it could be a metaphor for something else. Rozz's lyrics are hard to understand and I hope, with all of my heart, that there's a meaning behind them and he wasn't just putting together song lyrics for shock value. | |

| Bedouin Soundclash – Shadow Of A Man Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Don't look at me with sad eyes, tonight can you show me one more smile let this room shine through the night until the bed is claimed by daylight I saw a man standing on that hill walking around like he's got no one will I end up like him, all alone? girl, when you go I've got no soul where has your soul gone to? your shadow is calling you where has my soul gone to? I'm a shadow of a man yeah walking down these back streets looking a place where we will meet know that I can't ever leave, no until my poor bed washes the sea I saw a man standing on that hill walking around like he's got no one will I end up like him, all alone? girl, when you go I've got no soul where has your soul gone to? your shadow is calling you where has my soul gone to? I'm a shadow of a man yeah In so far as I know in so far as it goes I will be home in too long I will be home in too long I saw a man standing on that hill walking around like he's got no one will I end up like him, all alone? girl, when you go I've got no soul where has your soul gone to? your shadow is coming through where has my soul gone to? I'm a shadow of a man where has my soul gone to? where has my soul gone to? where has my soul gone to? I'm a shadow of a man yeah |

I love how he says, "I don't mind if you take me there In fact I want to see the stars" and how he uses Mars as a big metaphor because it's out in space. Ahh, Cedric is just an amazing writer! |

| At the Drive-In – Honest To A Fault Lyrics | 19 years ago |

sonic sounds constantly traveling in and out of my blue screened mind Well, to me it's not a MS Window, but it's a blue screen like in the movies. It sounds like a relationship that he wishes could be better and in his blue screen he sees himself differently? It's just a thought. |
