Bruce Springsteen – Thundercrack Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I know it is. But Tracks is a collection of rarities, mainly for Bruce collectors and hardcore fans. |
Leonard Cohen – Tonight Will Be Fine Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Mental masturbation is an amazing expression. |
Bruce Springsteen – Two For The Road Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Another fantastic song from the 3rd Disc of Tracks. Typical Springsteen road imagery, only this time applied to the journey of marriage instead of simple escapism in his earlier compositions. An amazing, amazing piece of music. |
Bruce Springsteen – When You Need Me Lyrics | 15 years ago |
There should be a comment on this song. In fact, there should be plenty. But there aren't. Probably due to the fact that this is another of Bruce Springsteen's gems that were only released on Tracks. There is no other possible reason. Because this is simply the most perfect and eloquent love song ever written. This is the ultimate call to stand by one another, no matter what happens. It is so beautiful that it can bring tears to your eyes. |
Creedence Clearwater Revival – Have You Ever Seen the Rain? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
No, the circle can't stop. Something bad will always come up and crush your happiness, your joy, and put you down. But, just like the fact that it is raining on a sunny day does not mean you cannot do what you wanted to, life does not end when something that seemed to be going so well turns out to be a disaster or a disappointment. And, just like it is hard to go through the rain to complete what you set out to do, these disappointments can be rough to overcome. But in the end, if you find the needed strength, you can come out on top. And, before you know it, you'll be smiling again, before something bad comes to crush your joy. But the coming of the rain can never erase the fact that the sun shone; and neither can bad things that come out of nowhere overshadow the good moments that came before them. Who would ever have thought that such a simple-looking set of lyrics could be so insightful and thought-provoking? |
Bruce Springsteen – Thundercrack Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This is song is so powerful, it's unbelievable. if you just close your eyes and listen, you feel it... For any regular artist, this would have been their masterpiece. Bruce could afford to release it as a rarity. |
Bruce Springsteen – Wreck On The Highway Lyrics | 16 years ago |
A reflection on the fragility of human life and how it would be to face the death of the person you love. |
Bruce Springsteen – Terry's Song Lyrics | 16 years ago |
The word "brother" should give you an idea... |
Bob Dylan – Never Say Goodbye Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This song is beautiful. |
Bruce Springsteen – Spirit in the Night Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Booze and sex. |
Guns N' Roses – Estranged Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Let's see if I can explain my beef with this song. At one point, when I felt really bad, I thought this song was the best ever. I really did. But the only thing it made was more depressed. Then I got out of that blue state and started wondering what made it so special to me - and I found nothing. See, I thought this song had fantastic lyrics, but, reading it again, I don't see any greatness. In fact, what I thought was the best line ("old at heart, but I'm only 28"), I heard later on the 1965 masterpiece Desolation Row by Bob Dylan ("on her 22nd birthday, she already is an old maid"). Then I started thinking maybe this song wasn't as revolutionary as I thought it was. This song is a depressing tune. Really, you hear it when you're down and you'll feel even worse. It's not like Bruce Springsteen's Jungleland, where, despite the darkness pictured, there's a flash of hope in that last note. No, Estranged only brings you even more down. And the lyrics, on a serious analysis, aren't all that great. This was the song that me think once that Axl Rose was the best lyricist in the world, and is the same that makes me now think that he is not as earth-shattering or brilliant as I thought he was. In fact, the words sang here are cliché and serve virtually no purpose at all. They pale in comparison to some great writers like Dylan, Springsteen, Waits, Waters, Knopfler or even Axl's former best friend, Izzy Stradlin. He just lacks that greatness and the ability to set a scene like those artists have. Estranged tries to be deep and meaningful, but it really isn't. And there lies the problem - what it tries to be and doesn't achieve. It was made to be some kind of Incident On 57th Street or Tangled Up In Blue - a long lyrical masterpiece -, but it is far from that. It is not even anything like the other two big epics in the Illusions, Don't Cry and November Rain, which are good songs, unlike Estranged. I prefer to not even write about the video, because my criticism would be even bigger. On a side note, Slash's speech that Slash&Blues talks about was done before Nightrain at the Ritz in 1988, not Estranged, which hadn't even been written at that time. |
Bruce Springsteen – American Skin (41 Shots) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I disagree with it being irritating. Top song, the repetition just adds to the atmosphere. |
Bruce Springsteen – Waitin' on a Sunny Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
This has got to be one of the best songs of the last 20 years. |
Bruce Springsteen – The Rising Lyrics | 17 years ago |
ncc74656m: You're confusing with My City Of Ruins, whose chorus is "Come on, rise up! Come on rise up!". Thus the "Thank you Bruce, we have risen" sign. |
Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Is there any doubt Bruce Springsteen's a genius? |
Bruce Springsteen – 4th of July Lyrics | 17 years ago |
cbacci, the title of the song is "4th Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy)". |
Bob Dylan – If You Gotta Go, Go Now Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Dylan's a genius! Hilarious song. |
Manfred Mann – Blinded by the Light Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Why don't you people ask the writer of the song, Mr. Bruce Springsteen, instead of pretending Manfred Mann wrote it? |
Guns N' Roses – Chinese Democracy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Isn't this supposed to be about the song "Chinese Democracy"? Ha. I thought so. The riff is killer in here. Straight, up in your face rocker, yet with a deep meaning. Great song, I hope the album opens with this. A great opener is the first step for a great record. |
Guns N' Roses – Better Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Kickass song. Everything we've heard in 2006 is great and Better is no different. It is my second favourite, right behind I.R.S. This song has some very heartfelt lyrics, combined with some innovative guitarwork from Mr. Finck himself. The outro is fantastic, the best and most memorable part of the song. This song rocks, I'm completely addicted to it. Very catchy, truly the way to go for GN'R. |
Bryan Adams – Straight From The Heart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The only Bryan Adams song I like. |
Bob Dylan – The Levee's Gonna Break Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I find it funny that the verse structure of this song is exactly the same as Woody Guthrie's "Worried Man Blues". Bob sure hasn't forgotten his youth hero. Anyway, this is a great song which refers, correct me if I'm wrong, the Katrina hurricane and the New Orleands disaster. |
Dire Straits – Portobello Belle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet. It is just plain beautiful. My favourite lines are "Ah, but the blind singer/He’s seen enough". Classic Knopfler. |
Crash Test Dummies – Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Lyrics | 17 years ago |
I think this songs has nothing to do with abuse. It has to do with things you can't explain. Why you act in a certain way, why your body is the way it is, why you go the places you go to... In fact, this song's meaning is quite direct, people are just reading way too much into it. |
Pink Floyd – Mother Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The last line refers to the height of the wall, I guess. |
The Rolling Stones – Dead Flowers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
My interpretation is that a girl thinks she is superior than him and has left him, starting to treat him like shit. But, deep down inside, he still loves her, that's why he'll put roses in her grave, even though what he gets from her is nothing but dead flowers. Yes, it can be about heroin. But you know, sometimes you got to look down and seek for your own interpretation. And that's mine. |
Pink Floyd – Hey You Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song on The Wall have a double meaning. They flow with the story and, at the same time, they have another meaning. This song is clearly about loneliness and our inability to get out of it. |
Shakira – Hips Don't Lie Lyrics | 18 years ago |
So a friend of mine asked me to download this song and I thought I'd check the lyrics out. I had heard the song and hated it. The lyrics didn't seem that great either, but I thought I'd give it a try. But now, after looking at it, I know my first impression was right. This song sucks. The music is not good and the lyrics are even worse. What the hell is this supposed to be about, anyway? Is there any deep meaning in this song? Or is it just like today's society: superficial and retarded? I bet on the second choice. I am tired of today's mainstream music. It all sounds the same, the message is always the same (if there even is one) and I have all my colleagues at school talking about how great this so-called musicians are. I tell you, I am sick of it. I am sick of having to order my CDs from the internet, having to pay delivery taxes, or having to search for them in obscure stores, just because they are not mainstream. Just because I don't like all this pop crap that MTV wants us to listen to. I want a rock CD, I have to search hard to find it; yet, everyday I put up with Shakira, and Wyclef Jean, and 50 Cent, and Eminem, and all those guys who sell CDs because of MTV and studio production. I am disgusted with the state of today's mainstream music. And what's worse, I am almost obliged to like it, because it is cool and the socials at school listen to it. It makes me sick. Fortunately, there are many people who like good music. The problem is, they won't say it because, sadly, it is a criteria to be accepted in your group at school. |
Green Day – My Generation (The Who cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
No freakin' way Green Day can ever do anything better than The Who. The Who are competent musicians, a great band. Green Day just are... worse. |
Izzy Stradlin – Shuffle It All Lyrics | 18 years ago |
For some reason, Izzy's compositions really strike my heart. He was my favourite GN'R songwriter and his solo stuff is just as awesome. He really writes with his souls and, when he is on vocals, he really shows his feelings. He may not be the best guitar player is the world, but music is not just about shredding. It's about feeling. And no-one does it better than Mr. Izzy Stradlin'. |
Green Day – Boulevard of Broken Dreams Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Poser song. Green Day are no longer a punk rock band, now they are just some punk pop wannabes who sold out to MTV. They now classify the same as Fallout Boy, for example, which is very low in my book. |
Guns N' Roses – Patience Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think this song is about sexual problems. It is about feelings and how the guy is far away from his girl. And he tells her to have patience, to wait until he comes back home. Anyway, this song is beautiful. I saw it live in Lisbon and it kicked ass. One of the most beautiful ballads ever written. |
Green Day – American Idiot Lyrics | 18 years ago |
It's amazing how a song with such lyrics, which could have been written by a 12 year old, has 2000 plus comments, while masterpieces by the likes of Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Deep Purple and so on are lacking comments. But I guess that shows the state of not only today's music but also today's rock. I'm glad Green Day didn't come to Rock In Rio. I went there and saw two real rock bands, The Darkness and Guns N' Roses. Not a bunch of punk-wannabes making some 6 year old kid's riffs and saying stupid things like that. It's because of punk pop artists like Green Day and My Chemical Romance that I don't even bother watching MTV anymore. Everything there pretty much sucks ass, except for some rock which I find interesting, but that's rare and only Headbangers Ball is worth watching now. Superock used to be good, but that Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit crap has ruined it lately. Yeah, Green Day used to be cool before they sold out to MTV. Dookie and Nimrod are two good albums, but Jesus Of Suburbia is the only song listenable from this last American idiot crap. And, as for this song, it represents how high school kids think they know what politics are, yet they say the same crap they hear fundamentalists say on TV. We're living in an ill society, and artists like Green Day reflect the immaturity of today. They are trying to reach beyond their background. And they just flat out fail. I have grown sick of watching this song play over and over again on MTV. At first, when I saw the video, I thought "Uau, Green Day on MTV, finally good music on this channel." I then realised they are not the same anymore. Billie Joe's voice has become annoying to me and they use the same old washed-up riffs all over again. Also, no solos. That's the big difference between great bands and crappy ones. There are still good bands around. Look no further than Velvet Revolver. Hell, Guns N' Roses, AC/DC and Aerosmith are back. Mainstream rock can be good. Sadly, just not with Green Day. |
Dire Straits – Money For Nothing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is song is probably the worst ever by both Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler alone. Not bad, but not that great either. Just way too overrated. |
Dire Straits – Why Worry Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Just flat out beautiful. |
John Cena – The Time Is Now Lyrics | 18 years ago |
The song ain't that bad, it's just the character John Cena that ruins it. If only the WWE could let him show what he's made of... I'm so sick of the "overcomming th odds" thing... RVD to power at One Night Stand! |
Our Lady Peace – Whatever Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Everytime I hear Whatever I think of WrestleMania XX... My favourite wrestler, Benoit's win showed you can live your dream if you try hard, day and night. It's not only wrestling, it's a lesson about life. It's about you can prove anyone wrong. He was told he would never do it, he would never be "the man"... Well, there he was, with his late friend Eddie Guerrero, both the top guys in the business, both the World Champions... It was a moment when I think the WWE bookers, Chris and Eddie told us "Hey, bust your ass and you can do it, no matter what people tell you". Anyway, great song. And Benoit's attitude is just like this song. He shows it everytime he enters the ring, with this song in the background. You should try to find something deeper in wrestling than just the easy "It's fake" argument. They teach you about life, and how to be successful. |
Guns N' Roses – Used to Love Her Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Come on, Slash himself said this song is a joke. It's not about any human, it's simply about a dog. Check this: http://gnrinfo.tk |
Guns N' Roses – Get In The Ring Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Wanna send someone to you know where? Then listen to this song. It really helps you when you're pissed. |
Guns N' Roses – 14 Years Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This song is about Izzy and Axl's friendship, that, around 1990, had been going on for 14 years. Izzy had written this track, called Axl and Axl told him he was also writing one song called 14 Years. So, Izzy mixed his (which was finished) with some parts of Axl's and there you have it. Now, in 2006, this could very well represent GNR's situation: "I was the dog... they all tried to beat" - GNR was on top of the world by 1991 "But it's been 14 years of silence" - It's been 14 and a half years since GNR last released original material "It's been 14 years of pain" - For us, GNR fans, seeing the original band break apart "Bullshit and contemplation Gossip's their trade If they knew half the real truth What would they say" - So many things have happened and only they know it. There has been so much speculation around GNR, yet none is particularly accurate "These last 4 years of madness Sure put me straight" - It's been 4 years since the failed 2002 tour. I hope they have really put Axl straight, cause I'm seeing GNR at Rock In Rio and I want Axl to show up Anyway, this is Izzy on top of his game. Great lyrics, probably the best out of all GNR songs, and he sound great singing as well. |
Metallica – Hero of the Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Well, this is my favourite song of all time. It is so beautiful. I think it is about us looking for heros in the people we don't know, when we should look to those close to us and worship them. And I agree so much. |
Emmylou Harris – Evangeline Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Can't believe no one has commented on this song yet... The Last Waltz version is just so great... |
