| Johnny Truant – I Am The Primotologist, Mr. Robert Sapolsky Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Where did you get those lyrics from? Aren't they like some big secret? (they're growled in a total unhearable manner) | |
| Fugazi – Shut the Door Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Like the first lines are about using the needle, I believe that this line is about smoking heroin: "i burn a fire to stay cool i burn myself, i am the fuel". Fugazi were straight edge, so it'd make sense for them to over-do the drug bashing somewhat. | |
| Forstella Ford – Mercurian Harmonium Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"I'm giving you my life one week at a time. You want the whole thing? You want it right now?" "It's that forced smile. It's you choking down any meaning." "This constant complaining proved to be pointless in the end" "these lies have filled this room with the awkward smiles and disappointed eyes that were all trying desperately to hide." Sorry if I may have quoted a lot here, but if I'm to understand this song, I'd start here. It seems like he's describing work and everyday life. It's boring and superficial, and people complain pointlessly and smile with nothing on their mind and in the end we're all victims to all these lies that entangle our lives. I can really identify with what he means with "disappointed eyes". It's weird when you can tell someone from their eyes, but their expressions and words don't necessarily match. |

| Built to Spill – Bad Light Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I think "Never forever" has to do with things that do not last forever. Your beliefs, your hopes and your personal relationships. And the world is so complex and amazing, that we'll never understand it, and throughout our lives we'll learn and never know anything clearly. We can't live and learn fully because of the bad light = "all that sun" = the worlds beauty. This of course only holds, if you are convinced that "bad light" is an ironic metaphor that isn't negative at all. | |
| Built to Spill – Liar Lyrics | 18 years ago |

The first verse is simply brilliant... it really hits the nail on "all these superficial people" out there, who lost themselves in the race of modern life. And I question whether it's really directed to a girl. See, the line "Mother Nature's disposition" points out that maybe "She" is actually "Mother Nature" and she's the one who doesn't mind. This implies her vulnerabilities and makes me think of all the beatings that she takes because of the ways we live. |

| Johnny Truant – Dirty Vampire feeding Frenzy Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I used to listen to this song like any other Johnny Truant song: Completely unaware of the lyrics. They didn't want me to know the lyrics of the first album, and I figured to hell with the sophomore. Anyways, these are good lyrics and this song had a fantastic impact on me eventhough I didn't get more than a few words. The lyrics don't supprise me - I knew Johnny Truant would write stuff like this. The song - I think - is about dreaming yourself back in time and wanting the war and bloodshed from the old days, because it reminds you of being alive. And what do one do to get that same feeling of living? | |
