Anthrax – A.I.R. Lyrics 14 years ago
You're all right in some way, I think, but you're only scratching the tip of the iceberg with this song. Really, it's about the end of childhood. You can't be a child anymore, even if you want to. People don't judge children, let them be, and forgive them. When your childhood ends, all that is gone. You're faced with responsibility, social norms, conformity, authority, and people's expectations and images of how you should be. You don't want it, but you have no choice. You can't go back to your childhood. You're fucked. So what do you do? "Fight or go insane."

Alice in Chains – Sunshine Lyrics 19 years ago
This interpretation is totally wrong, but when I was a kid and I listened to this song, I always envisioned some weird alien community worshipping some mother-like deity, who shined so bright she was like sunshine to them. They worship her and are like slaves, but then one day one gets too ambitious and tries to touch the Mother in hopes of receiving some of her power, and is instantly destroyed.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Grand Pappy Du Plenty Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this is the saddest, darkest song the RHCP ever created.

It makes me think of someone with nowhere to go, who has just been rejected from their last point of salvation. And now they're wandering the dirty, unclean streets of L.A. at night, without anywhere to go. Everywhere they turn, they see unkind faces, pained expressions, reflected of their own screw-ups and the bleakness of drug addiction.
