Some of the lyrics are incorrect: "I don't" is actually "Adored" and the first "I don't need to sell my soul" in both verses is "I don't HAVE to sell my soul". Now, very great song; love it tremendously. The origin, the way the bass kicks in is orgasmic and then the build up "I wanna I wanna" is THE climax ;orgasm. Heh. |

I think this song is about drugs. "Bring back those good ol' days "Nothing feels right Nothing ever goes my way I threw my future away" He misses the times when he was actually happy and sober. Getting high doesn't feel right..but he can't control it. Gets high all the time, maybe dropped out of school and has no job. "Now I'll walk alone out here in the cold Wandering astray Where's my future?" Since he got kicked out of his house because of drugs, he's a vagabond. He's not in reality anymore but in a fantasy world. He is wondering where his future is? Where did it go? Drugs just clog up his mind 24/7. "Gonna need a home You'd expect the same, now, wouldn't you? Wouldn't you?" He wants a home. "Your journey back to birth Is haunting you It's haunting you" His struggle to stop his addiction is over-powering him. "Your departure from the earth Is haunting you It's haunting you" Taking drugs takes you away from reality. "Only those who accept Will find that acceptance in return" Believe in yourself. "We have been trimmed down like hedges Told just to sit and wilt" Kind of get numb when you're on drugs all the time. You just sit there..relaxed..dead-like.. "And spit at each other from a distance With constant resistance From you" He hates the drugs, but he NEEDS to take them. It's his life. He craves it even though he hates doing it. "It's been ten years strong That's much too long Time to do something good for my health Time to do something good for myself" He hasn't been sober for over 10 years. He wants his health back. He wants to find himself. "I've wasted all this time... I've wasted all this time..." Wasted all his time doing drugs and nothing worthy. |

I feel like this song is about depression. You feel dead inside. No color. No emotion. Just black and white ( bipolar?, too? ) This person is just unfolding..revealing himself. He is ready to come out of this depression. To be close to people. To lend his heart out. He wants someone to care about him. Also, it fits perfectly with Sebastion and Annette. Sebastion used to be a "player" and seduce young women but then he met Annette..and has fallen in love with her. Annette, also, because she was this holier than ever, "virgin", who then lost her virginity to Seb. So, they both, actually relate to this song and have both came out of their "shells". .revealing themselves to eachother. Cruel Intentions is one my favorite movies and everytime I hear this song I ALWAYS picture the elevator scene. |
