Anja Garbarek – Word Is Out Lyrics 16 years ago
No comments on this song? I guess i'll be the first.

I love this song so much... In my opinion, it's by far Anja's best song.
It's such a perfect metaphor for a relationship that's dying. Whoever they may be; whether they are lovers, roomates, friends, family, etc. they are so sick of each other that the slightest thing one does rubs the other the wrong way. They are constantly walking on eggshells with each other and you can cut the tension with a knife.

Just wow. Beautiful. At least that's how I interpreted it.

Cult of Luna – Waiting For You Lyrics 16 years ago
I love how this song steadily and subtly builds up to a grand explosion as if they were rising flood waters. And the lyrics are so simple yet powerful. One of my favorite, if not my very favorite song by them.

A Perfect Circle – A Stranger Lyrics 17 years ago
Cast the calming apple up and over satellites
to draw out the timid wild one,
to convince you it's alright.
And I listen for the whisper of your sweet insanity while I formulate denials of your effect on me.

You're a stranger so what do i care?
Vanish today, not the first time I hear...or the last

What am I to do with all this silence?
Shy away, shy away phantom
Run away terrified child
Won't you move away, you phantom maiden.
I'm better off without tearing my will down.

That's what I actually hear. "Not the first time I hear all the lies" doesn't really make any sense at all to me, but "vanish today, not the first time I hear or the last" makes much more sense. Like this person who left has done so before and will continue to do.
And "You fuckin' tornadoe": I don't hear the word "fucking" at all. There's no hard K sound in whatever Maynards saying and I definitely hear Phantom MaiDOAN. The way he pronounced Maiden is causing problems. "phantom maydoan"????

So on to what this song's about now:

It's about the humble beginning and the very harsh end of some kind of relationship. Probably either a very close friendship or a lover.

The first verse about offering calming apples to draw out timid wild ones makes me think of a petting zoo or something where someone goads an animal closer by offering a handful of feed.
The image brought to mind is of buying someone drinks at a bar. Drinking, conversing, meeting and getting to know each other. This is the very beginning.

The rest of the song is their relationship in shambles. Maynard's counterpart has had enough and one or both of them feel like they don't know each other anymore or they never really knew each other at all. Communication broke down and there was only bitter silence or fighting. Whoever the other person is gave up on their relationship and is finally leaving. Despite the pain being together caused, it still hurt that they are leaving and it's even more painful that this person doesn't care enough to try to fix their relationship. Instead, they run from their problems like the have done before and will continue to do...

Yep, Maria Christopher of the band: "27"
I love her voice.

This song reminds me of Tool's "Disposition" because so little is said, yet those few words have such immense power and beauty behind them. It's just overwheming, Gorgeous.

It does sound like he says "In dreams he wanders the dark in search of her light".

What an absolutely beautiful, beautiful line.
What an absolutely beautiful, beautiful song...

Agents of Oblivion – A Song That Crawls Lyrics 18 years ago
This is what I hear:

Little creeper in the shade under my brain
It caterpillars, hundredth eye under mushroom clouds
in the rain, child
I wrote your name in sparrow's blood
upon your madhouse wall
I drug my belly 'cross the riverbed of skulls, yeah
to sing y'all a song that crawls
of that song that crawls
of that song that crawls, yeah
When I spoke your name out loud again,
I wondered when you'd bring the rain back to me
I'm wondering; had we ever really lived at all
when they closed the coffin lid on the tombstone kid
Kissed my eyelids, she did
of that song that crawls
of that song that crawls, yeah
I wrote your name in sparrow's blood,
drug my belly 'cross the riverbed of souls
to sing y'all
a song that crawls

Radiohead – Paranoid Android Lyrics 18 years ago
I have no idea what's going on in this song. Maybe I need to read the Hitch Hikers Guide series?
But my opinion is that he's describing someone who has his mind set one one goal and blindly charging like a bull towards it, paying no mind towards the little people he steps on, the destruction he causes? And if Thom were king, this person would surely pay for the damage they caused. "the end does not justify the means" so he would be killed for persuing what he thinks is right and best? I have a feeling i'm way off but that's what I took from this song.

Feist – When I Was a Young Girl Lyrics 18 years ago
This is a great great song, It brings up images of someone on Death Row or someone sentenced to death from a disease or otherwise.

A woman wrapped in white linen who calls out the plague. This makes me think of a Sin Eater. The Sin Eater's job is to free one who is dying of their sins by eating usually a piece of bread if I recall correctly symbolizing the sins of the condemned so they do not go to hell.

Dead Can Dance – The Carnival Is Over Lyrics 18 years ago
My interpretaion of this song is that Brian is recalling a lost love or a time tattooed into his memory of why he loves the one he is with. Either they are no longer together or they are having troubled times: "Outside, the storm clouds gathering moved silently along the dusty boulevard" this lyric fragment, other lyrics in the song and the song title I think are a metaphor for this great moment in time they shared moving on to another pair, another town. So that others can feel the same kind of happiness and love...

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 19 years ago
Alrighty then.
You quoted the lyrics: "No way to recall
what it was that you had said to me,
like I care at all."
Suuuuure, MJK woud say that he doesn't giva a fuck about what his dear friend had to say? Wonderful. That makes a great amount of sense to me, yeah! *throws confetti*

Fuck it, I give up already. I'm not one to pointlessly argue on the internet.

IloveConspiracies, you kick ass, man. Give it up though. Those who fail to see reason can not be helped...except with a bullet, but seeing as how this is the internet where morons, douche bags and the like can not be physically harmed, you'll just have to let it go.

Yes, Professor Slickback's intelligence is mind boggling, but there's absolutely nothing anyone can do for him.

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 19 years ago
Okay, so whoever the fuck says this song is about Bill Hicks is just flat out RETARDED. This is clearly very negative and sarcastic. Tool held Bill Hicks in the highest regard. Why the fuck would MJK say "He had a lot to say, he had a lot of nothing to say" about one of his heroes? Translated for you dumb fucks, this line means that this person spewed alot of nonsensical bullshit. Bill Hicks had alot to say, yes. And it was very comedic but not at all anywhere close to meaningless garbage. THIRD EYE was a tribute to Bill Hicks, captain oblivious, not this hateful angry sarcastic shit. There was an interview that Tool did on the radio, me thinks, if I can recall correctly where they were asked who this song was about and Justin said something like: "It's about L. Ron Hubbard, alot of people think it's about Jesus but it's not."

Yes, ladies and gentlemen. Lebron Hubbard. This song is showing the band's disgust at the man and his followers and those throughout history like them. Despite the fact that he is a fucking SCIENCE FICTION AUTHOR who stole form his followers and preached about aliens who threw people into volcanoes and et cetera, those Scientology nut balls are still so weak and insecure (and not to mention psychotic) that they choose to follow him despite all this.

I like the guy who said that this is about Hitler. I applaud you, for you seem to have quite a good number more brain cells than some of these asshats. Read the lyrics over and over if you have to. TRY your hardest to pick up the sarcasm. This is a NEGATIVE song about those with charisma i.e. dictators, leaders, politicians, martyrs, religious assholes who brainwash and prey on the weak. Those who in their minds are the righteous and just but in fact they are PURE EVIL.

Thank you. Have a nice day. I can understand why the band hates most of you "fans".
