| Boys Night Out – Hold On Tightly, Let Go Lightly Lyrics | 19 years ago |

"I felt the sun on my face for the first time, and tasted blood on my tongue for the last. " What I get from this line is that he is through with the shitty relationships of the past (blood on his tongue) and is onto the good with this new girl he sings about (sun on the face). |

To me, this song has never been about addiction or eating disorders or anything like that. Sure, it has elements of addiction and eating disorders, but it is stretches across a broader spectrum to me: being depressed, and willing to do anything to get rid of it. Conor keeps "waving at the taxis, but they keep turning their lights off"; the taxis represent people who he is reaching out to for compassion. He wants to make a connection, but they are unwilling to do so, turning their lights off and denying him what he is asking for. Dismayed, he turns to drugs at a party that someone in much the same place as he is has suggested. Next, he talks of how he has grown to appreciate the time he spends alone, only out of necessity. He puts on a mask -- a fake smile -- but, as always, it eventually looks like shit. His lover is a girl with an eating disorder, assumed to be named Lua. This girl who I used to be best of friends with had an eating disorder, and it is tasking to try and lift a heart that is so heavy as that of someone with one. Rewarding, yes, but difficult. Conor, however, cannot handle the strain, and is merely faking his love (convincing himself, as well, and feeling terrible about it) and sort of numbly going through the motions of love. The terrible feelings he experiences because of his requiring to convince himself he loves Lua, as well as keeping up a show of love to Lua, are washed away by alcohol. This comes to the most beautiful line, in my opinion: "If you promise to stay conscious, I will try and do the same,/ We may die from medication but we sure killed all the pain." This is Conor sort of admitting to himself that he does not love Lua, but will go along with it as long as she will be numb with him. This is utter desperation: he wants to lift the stress, pain, and depression, that his forced relationship with Lua has put upon him. His solution, as usual, is alcohol. It is easy to fake love to get something from someone, be it sex, love, or a feeling of acceptance and friendship. However, your heart will not stay in the same place forever. Anyway, this is just what it means to me. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, I really can see most of your interpretations, but there's my take. |

| Thrice – Weight Of Glory Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Granted, there are allusions to the cross and sins, but there are also allusions to a crown and dust. So no, the song is not about Christianity, it's about royalty and housecleaning. | |

"and if someone tries to pull this isnt a christian song they are severly disturbed, mistaken, and/or retarded..." Yes, because everyone knows Christians are the only ones who aren't judgemental. Uh, right. |
