Slow Moving Millie – A Hart With a Crown and Chain Lyrics 14 years ago
To me this song is a metaphor for freedom and the unforeseen consequences of being independent.
I think the hart represents someone who has been raised and kept like a decorative pet. The crown and chain are symbols of status, that is, it's someone who is kept in a very luxurious and comfortable setting but feels trapped by the conventions and obligations that it entails. A hart is a deer that was typically hunted by the wealthy rulers of medieval England for sport. In this song I think it's used to describe a beautiful woman who is merely kept around for some rich guy's entertainment.
When she finally gets up the courage to leave this lifestyle and tries to make it on her own, she discovers it's harder than she previously thought it would be to find her place in the world, since she only knows how to be decorative and exist at the whim of someone else. She doesn't really know what to do with her independence. She ends up giving up and letting herself "be captured" again in order to return to the familiarity of her old life.

Blue Öyster Cult – She's As Beautiful As A Foot Lyrics 15 years ago
This is actually my boyfriend's interpretation. I've been listening to this song all week, and just this morning he had a shower epiphany that might explain some of the lyrics.

She's as beautiful as a foot- that line is basically saying that she's ugly.
...When he bit into her face, it tasted just like a fallen arch.- the fallen arch is a reference to a certain fast food chain that makes people so fat and unhealthy. Basically saying, you are what you eat, and she's eaten so many greasy hamburgers she tastes just like the food she's gotten so fat and disgusting off of.
Essentially, then she turns into a disgusting cow woman.

You could think of it too, from the perspective of someone who has an eating disorder. Anorexic people often are paranoid about other people thinking they are fat and ugly, so it could be all in some girls mind that she is fat and ugly and therefore thinks she hears people saying stuff about her like "she's as beautiful as a foot."..and she's saying these lyrics to herself to remind herself not eat and become a disgusting cow.
As for the cannabalistic/ vampiric references - References to eating someone in literature are often sexual metaphors. This especially makes sense in the context of the song from point of view of the paranoid anorexic girl. She thinks she's unattractive, so if any guy "tastes" her sexually, he's going to find the experience disgusting and not going to want to "taste" her again and will tell everyone else that she's repulsive to sleep with. ("Don't put your tongue on the bloody tooth mark place.")

Rasputina – Secret Message Lyrics 19 years ago
The secret message is just a means to get close to someone. There may not even be a message...but keep telling someone you have secret for them...and they stick around just to see what it is. To me, this song is mostly about seduction.

Martin Sexton – Candy Lyrics 19 years ago
Candy is a prostitute and her "John" kind of sticks around after to try to get to know the real her...realizing that he sort of loves/pities her.

Some think that this song is also a reference to a drug addiction, "Candy" referring to the guy's drug of choice. (Well, that's my Mom's theory... the first explanation makes more sense to me though.)

Jethro Tull – Dark Ages Lyrics 19 years ago
Eschatology, Jethro Tull style. Basically about the world coming to an end...but everyone is too distracted to bother or care.
