| Stellastarr* – Lost in Time Lyrics

This song has now become something much more to me. I am now one of the growing number of men who lose their children because the current legal system allows ex spouses to make false allegations with ease. Thus I and my children are in the 'lost in time' phase where missing, longing, uncertainty, fear, and hope are the turns on a never ending emotional rollercoaster. So, I listen to this song for my and my children's souls. |

Clearly about realizing what you've got once it's gone, but this song comes across rather nice. Probably discarded by the 'hip' types as cheesy one hit wonder pop, but this is actually one of those songs that proves anybody can somehow, someway, put together a song that is well produced, written, sung, beautiful, and has that somber, cheese-less feel to it. |

I like the ending to this song, it kind of sums it all up. It's the best part of the song and perhaps should have been the chorus instead. |

| Prince – Nothing Compares 2 U Lyrics

OldskoolPrinceFan must have attended an inept skool as well. How can you make a mockery of Prince when you just earned Prince even more white euro fans and respect as an artist? Sinead's version was right on for her genre. The versions are different experiences, and frankly Sinead's version was better produced. The Family's and R&P's version came across as forced soul, in my opinion. It's a great song that should speak for itself, and Sinead let it do just that. And why madamehollywood thinks Sinead's is without passion is rooted in prejudice. This is coming from a fan of Prince who has every album Prince has recorded from "For You" to the 'black album' to 'musicology'. I also have most of Sinead's albums. This is not my favorite Sinead song, as she actually does a better cover version of Elton John's 'sacrifice' which is even more haunting than this. |

Sigur Ros isnt the first band to make beautiful emotive music where the vocals were more of an accompanying instrument. Cocteau Twins are one such band that comes to mind.
This song is truly amazing. It can evoke feelings of sadness and hope. I choose the feelings of hope when I hear this. |

I love this song, Peter really turned on the vocals here. Not sure about the lyrics, perhaps a desire to get away from hectic city life? |

Didn't think lyrics actually existed, wow. Now I know why its maybe better left without the lyrics, who knows what these things mean. Absolutely incredible music though, just the way its supposed to be enjoyed, without singing along to. |

Yep, this song was a massive euro and college hit when originally released. And remained a staple at many 80's/old wave/goth radio stations and dance clubs.
Glad the movie brought new fans to this musically classic tune and the great band behind it. |

I believe the first word is 'Unstop" not "I'll" stop the day. This tune grew on me. Yeah, there's some pictures of you by the cure in there, but then there's some Joy division in pictures of you. This is a great song all on its own, and thats all that matters. |

This is one of those songs that should be a major hit on commercial radio, it is that solid. I find this band quite fresh actually and I'm sure their contemporaries or influences would love to have come up with some of these tunes, such as this one. Great music, melodies, hooks. What's wrong with that? |

I love this tune, and I'll just go with the notion it's about the 'honeymoon' period of a relationship. I prefer that anyways. (By the way, just about any song can be spun to seem like its about drugs or sex, this one is about the other of the 3 common topics: girls/relationships)
I love this song and the band, saw them live in Athens, GA and am still in awe. |

I agree, one of Marr's finest pieces. The solo is great, because it makes me want it not to stop. You can't help but feel the emotion coming from that solo. Great song all the way around. |

This is a great song and yes it is about the obvious. And yes, dropping the bomb was probably unnecessary. The U.S. should have instead either pretended Pearl Harbor didnt happen or retaliated by sending thousands of more Americans throughout the Pacific to die and drag on a war that could have really been the war to end all wars and everything else at that. But history can be cruel, because lets say the bomb wasnt used then and the devastating effects were still unknown. When would the bomb be used then? Just saying perhaps it was lesson needed to be learned. |

Not sure about the song meaning or why there is almost no KOD songs listed here. If you're looking for song lyrics to delve into, KOD has got plenty. Love the first 2 albums, and a few songs after. Polaroids and Prize are great tunes. |

Bliss Freak, you rock! Not many others can think on that scale, good for you. Isn't it cool? Well, it does create a problem because most people don't think in meta terms like that.
Anyways, this is the JD song that initially grabbed me by the balls and said you will like this fu**ing music man. Basically it caused me to become a fan and collect all other JD music. It kicks ass and yes those above pretty much have the meaning down pat. On a bigger scale our lives are basically meaningless and why bother trying to make it? But, whats the point in living if you've come to realize this? Maybe having 'insight' isnt good for ones long term health. |

| Elton John – Sacrifice Lyrics

Like many others, this song is not easily understood. But after reading through these comments, it does seem to me that it's about sacrificing the affair. The affair is at the man's doorstep, waiting to happen, but he realizes all the crap that would ensure, so he refuses the affair.
And the Sinead O'Connor version is just amazing. Very haunting and surreal, perhaps her finest vocal performance. Her end to the song "I gave you my heart" repeated over and over is very emotionally powerful and perhaps telling why the man sacrificed the affair, because he gave his heart to his wife. |

| New Order – Ceremony Lyrics

This song is one of those songs that should have everything around it ignored and simply just admire the beauty of it. Best recording of this tune. The original semi-recording just took too much away. It doesn't matter Ian is not singing, Bernard & New Order perfectly presented the song and the original vibe and mood was left intact. To me, this song is simply a love song to/about his girlfriend, but really, who knows for sure, it could have multiple meanings. Perhaps how the negativity is killing her? |

This is one of those songs that make you admire Jarvis Cocker and company. Great music (love the rhythm and bass and the 'do it' part) and good melody for the first half the song then WHAM you go a different direction. I have no idea what this song is about, because after 'do it' i'm lost. |

An amazing tune, and I agree one of the best guitar solos EVER, (the kind you wish was loner!).
I don't find the music that bubbly though, I see it very appropriate for the lyrics. Maybe in The Cure mindset it may sound happy, but stepping back..not so much, and compared to other Wish tracks, quite mellow actually. |

| Joy Division – Atmosphere Lyrics

I guess only the songwriter can truly explain what the song is about, but we can come pretty close. The poster above stated it best as an "expression of isolationism." I, too, am an isolationist and its not because I (we) want to be. It's because our minds wont let us. Whether because of our unique physical, mental, intellectual, or whatever situation, we cope with our uniqueness through isolation. |
