Everything that's been said about this song is right on, but I think the most striking lines are: "You're feeling instead of being/The more that I live on the inside/There's nothing to give." To me, this song is about being active and not passive (in love, and everything else). He could wait around for her, or he could reach out and "repair her desire" "from just wanting to live". I think a lot of his songs are about activity and how all parties involved should make an effort and move toward each other, meet each other at that corner. Funny that what he's infatuated by are her "moves". This is my favorite BDB song, followed closely by "Another Devil Dies"--also, in my opinion, about being active in any/all of life's pursuits--coincidence? I think not. |

| Personally, I agree with the previous post that this emphasizes the here and now, but I don't think that what he forsees is an end to the relationship, but rather an end to life, or everything. In any case, the part that touches me the most is that he just wants to stay "out of the way" of anything and everything that might keep him from that 'here and now happiness', because that's all he wants. He's also desperately searching for time but also coming to realize that embracing the moment is not about looking for more time in the future. It's most likely intentionally contradictory to express how we all feel about these things. | |

| First of all, I love the reference to the Hour of Bewilderbeast song "Another Pearl" even though it's strange that he can acknowledge that there might be another pearl but seemingly only one "hand that fits the glove". It just seems to be about someone who's looking for real love but feels cynical sometimes when he sees that love rarely lasts (past 2 years, for example). It's keeping the optimism, the belief in true love despite the sordid situations of many around him. | |
