to me the song is about two people in a forbidden love becoming frustrated about keeping their love secret and if they were to break up what would they do without each other or is he just a memory(am I just a photograph)? pantomime meaning talking without words through expressions (possibly to keep things secret since they aren't married?) they shouldn't be doing what there doing (sex obviously) because of some reason (lack of marriage being the most obvious?) and him saying if you must believe in your religion then look at my face and know i will always love you until death. still not married they go on and have a baby (another life evolved to gestation) so they kept going with their mistake (the baby) but she changed, so she went in the babies room and he knew what she was going to do and he was in 'absolute horror' "she put her hands on its lips" (how you say shut up to a kid "shush") then gave it a last kiss, lullabies saying she loved the baby. then after its dead he says basically he hates her god for making her think this and if he could he would destroy the god because of all that has happened because of this religon. as for the next line im not 100% but it could be "in your religion you can do what you want (sin) and then repent and your 'born again' wiping the slate clean until you sin again and well rinse and repeat. after all she’s done she may not have the opportunity to go to heaven like he knows that he would have always been there to love her in her life for and now things are suffering (like the dead baby ;) ) if this is the way it has to be and were going to hell, go to hell with him just don't leave him. "Find in me…Room to breathe…Enmity…Suffering" means find in him love and share everything, including enmity (enemies), and suffering (pain) she killed the baby because she thought that jesus told her she couldn't keep the baby because it represented their forbidden love. it looked like me is self explanatory. r.i.p. to the baby i believe until they die and go with it. |
