Whenever I listen to VNV I get this sense that nearly every song that they write has this very broad and objective outlook on the human race, our world, our reality. The line "before me plays the endless film" means to me somewhat that no matter what happens, the film goes on, thats how its always been. "where the river takes me will in time be revealed" Who knows whats going to happen tomorrow, who knows if you will make it or not, who knows what kind of tricks and miracles life has in store for you. More importantly, your interpretation of life, your outlook and state of mind, to love and to lose. If you are going to love, love like there is no tomorrow. Never have shame for it, and never question why you feel the way one may feel "I cannot turn my feelings down Beyond my means to turn my thoughts around" You cant drive a roller coaster, your just there for the ride. |

Theres little words that can describe it, to match the words Trent has weaved together and put to a melodic sprawl of synths and guitar beats. I dont mean to conform to the same immature rantings about "omg its about me and me only, and how whatever happens to me is the worst thing ever" but I was literally lsitening to this song when the most important person in the world to me, turned their back and left. Im not even saying this as a grasp for pity or to create a sense of drama. I literally was listening to this song when it happened. Before that happened I hadnt the need to cry, but afterwords, the meaning of it transformed. Its surreal that it only took that turning event to bring out the true meaning and emotion that is packed into this slow mellow song. We are all the same, and few people make it out of life without even a few instances of this, total and utter loss. |
