ok, this might be wrong, but its what I think.. the bit about "sunday morning is everyday for all i care" isnt exactly criticising chrsitians, its just saying, "do you really have 2 go 2 church every sunday to be a chrstian?" shouldnt god just be part of your everyday life?- i think hes saying he doesnt believe in god but he thinks some traditions in christianity are stupid. in the bit where it says "light my candles in a daze coz i found god"- i think hes doing the same thing, he doesnt think you need ceremonies "lighting candles" to have a connection with god".. why would u need a material connection if you already have a spiritual connection? and i think hes also saying "hes not scared" of god or death, meaning that some people follow a religion or a god just because they are scared of what is going to happen to them once they die. the lithium bit is what ive thought all along.. |

sounds like whats goen on in my life at the moment.. he thinks their relationship just isnt working, and that if she looked around shed realise it too.. and everyone else probably thinks their perfect for each other.. but before telling her he was gonna break up with her he probably told someone else... n she probably found out because of some1 telling her instead of him... n yeh he obviously still loves her, as friends. |

she is obviously older and more experienced.. and probably neither of them want 2 have sex, but they feel like they have to to please each other. he thinks she wants "so much more than he culd ever give her" but it looks like hes gonna say shes only looking for sex. he comes across as a bit insensitive by sayin "this is the first and last time" but hes obviously scared and doesnt "feel so prepared" |

ok, all the interpretations ive read so far sound good, havnt read them all tho, so dont be pissed off if im just writting the same stuff as every1 else.. this song sounds like what im going thru at the moment... its like theyr in a relationship, or starting a relationship.. but he doesnt wanna screw things up, so he doesnt say what he thinks or how he feels... so theyr constantly fighting.. he probably knows she liked him at some stage, but because they dont talk about how they feel he isnt so sure anymore... hes too scared to tell her how he feels in person, thats why he wrote the letter.. yeh thats it.. hope its not completely wrong |

like every1 else has already said, i was very surprised there was only 1 page of comments 4 this song. not only is it one of the best foo fighters song, but like EVERY1 knows and likes this song anyways.. i think its actually im the ONE that drives away then follows u back home. |

i thought the 1st line was- im a maize and shes a cow? that wuld make more sense i think he obviously doesnt like the chick he tells her he "goes to church to pray" to put her off... shes telling him about herself and he culdnt care less, hes just like "oh yeah?!" and he says she "thinks shes all that" yeh...thats all i got.. |

ok, so i havent read all the comments and this has probably been written already but the bit i like the most is the "if u feel discouraged and theres a lack of color here, please dont worry lover, its really bursting out the seams, absorbing everything, the spectrums a-z this is because of the absorption of light. There is a lack of colur when everything is black. When an object is black it is actually absorbing every colour. if in art, u mixed every colour, you would get black.. The bit about seeing her upside down refers to the way the eye sees objects.. our eye sees things upside down, but the brain uses refraction to turn the image around. i think the bit about every girl in every girlie magazine refers how when you're looking through a magazine full of hot girls, and ur single, u sort of feel really lonely... but because he only wants her, they cant posibly make him feel more lonely. They obviously had a fight, and he screwed things up, and hes only just realised how much he screwed up. and he knows its over between them. |
