And so the MTV kids go at it's most literal meaing. ---------- As for the song, sounds to me like an idol who believes in the "better to burn out than fade away" theory. "Miss Murder" to me is death itself, and he's asking her if dying now would immortalise him in the eyes of those who adore him, so he can be forever young, forever beautiful, forever adored. However, in the end verse beginning "What's the rift" it kind of sounds like it's all backfired on him, that in death he's faded from most people's memories, it's the speaker "searching for what [he was] promised" after death. Or perhaps it's not even a physical death, just a departure from the limelight. He's constantly reaching but he's in enforced solitude, with nothing but the cold and rain for company... yet he can't forget how it was to be universally admired and adored. ( pierrot show o) |
