Why? – Sod in the Seed Lyrics 11 years ago
Quite a self-disparaging, self-effacing song. Reversing all of the usual self-aggrandising hip hop tropes.

"I wish the cobwebs would cover me"

Hell Is For Heroes – I Can Climb Mountains Lyrics 15 years ago
I do like this song, but I always thought (and I know I'm wrong) the last lines were;

When I'm surrounded I'll take the summit
When I'm surrounded, I'll climb

Which I much prefer to the real lines! Sort it out HIFH!

Pavement – Embassy Row Lyrics 17 years ago
I always thought this was pretty literal: maybe Pavement had a gig in the UK (hence "take the crown") and they couldn't get the correct permit...? Seems idiosyncratic enough for Malkmous to write about it

"I don't do drugs anymore... than the average touring funk band" - Bill Hicks.

Blur – Theme from an Imaginary Film Lyrics 17 years ago
Apparently this was written for a Steven Berkoff film but he refused it (hence the title). Fool.

Absolutely gorgeous.
