Yeh, really ironic lyrics huh? The guy is obviously fighting a fight with himself. He's really trying to shut his heart out. He plays normal but his boiling inside. The main battle is between his mind and his heart. I think all the things he's saying to the girl, he's actually saying them for himself. What a thought that is... Looking from another perspective, I tend to believe that he likes to hide behind these words so as to have the oportunity to have her around longer... to keep himself feeling... |

For me the message is very plane. The guy who talks in maths is not acctualy living... he doesn't feel, he doesn't LOVE. On the other hand, the girl is too concerned with fashion, superficiality, having her "hitler hairdo" as a model. In all this framework Karma police comes in, not as outer entity, but as an inner one, their conscience. Don't we all know when we're really truly happy and when we're not? "For a minute there, I lost myself, I lose myself.." is the revelation of the purest self, the one that has been scribbled off by the circumstances, by carelessness, by time without meditation... I think each and every one of us is beautiful in this sense, just beacause we have this inner voice, that guides us on the right way. It's called LOVE and it's called GOD. Also, I love the language they used to express this: "payroll", "if you mess with us", "is making me feel ill".. i find it so proper to get down to the way the mind works in contrast to the way the heart works (" I lost myself, I lost myself") |

I've always been fascinated about singers, about the way they can open up so much. When I heard this song, i was stunned. I think this is the purest song I've heard... one that comes from the core of his being. Shield off, no more filters.. I love you! I think it all boils down to this, opening up, and as my brother put it... the real courageous person, is a person who can love. Well Thom... you're a hero! Also, how beautiful can this contrast be : "And true love wins On lollipops and crisps" doesn't any of us get tired of the superficiality of the world around us... lollipops and crisps, you said it. ps: I've first thought that instead of "your tiny hands" they say " your childish eyes".. to A... for having the courage to love when I ran away, overwhelmed |

Have any of you had the chance to love so much as to be sure he/she is "the one" and still having to let he/her go? It's really fucked up. if you ask me why do you have such a thing up... well.. the dependence of that private univers stops you from being a person in other respects, in society, family etc. It's just too intense with your lover and you stop existing for the rest of the world. You can't do this... you have to have a job, family etc.. although it's fuking beautiful, you can't survive. Can anyone relate... cause I....
