| Otep – Warhead Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| sam_recklesss, all of otep's screams ARE her actual voice. no "animation" as you call it. Men in the metal business have been questioning this for quite awhile, and her screams are authentic, plus, if you see her live, you can tell it's her. | |
| Evanescence – Breathe No More Lyrics | 19 years ago |

I think this is about a mixture of mental disorders. I think that many of the lines are metaphorical and shouldn't be taken literally. For example: "I've been looking in the mirror for so long" I think this line is referring to the way she acts around people vs. the way she really feels. She puts on a happy face to make it seem like everything is okay, but eventually she loses it, and then she becomes that emotionless zombie that she has been portraying. The lines "All the little pieces falling, shattered." I don't think that literally refers to "pieces" of a broken mirror. I think she is speaking of HER pieces. Her emotions, her mental stability, etc. And once she loses it, she can't put herself back together hence: "Shards of me, too sharp to put back together." The line: "Lie to me, convince me that I've been sick forever." makes me think that she is referring to a manipulative person. Someone who tells her that she should surrender herself and let others make important decisions for her because she isn't stable enough to do it on her own... when, in all actuality, she IS stable enough, and that *possibly* someone is trying to hospitalize her for psychiatric treatment, and she tries to refusel, but they tell her that she NEEDS it. Even if she doesn't. When she says: "But I know the difference between myself and my reflection. I just can't help but to wonder, which of us do you love?" she means that she knows what she needs. But that someone is trying to force her to give up and believe that she is crazy... even though she isn't. "Which of us do you love?" probably refers to her and her reflection... the "zombie" version of herself. I think at this point in the song, she is realizing that she isn't crazy, and doesn't need someone to make decisions for her. She realizes that the person she loves is probably in love with her "reflection" which represents the passive version of herself (the zombie version). |

| Otep – Tortured Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I seriously doubt that she enjoyed any part of it. I think it's obvious that Otep was severely damaged by the things that happened to her during her childhood. No one enjoys rape or molestation. No one. If they did, it wouldn't be considered that. It would just be sex. I think the "my beloved" refers to the person that hurt her. Which would mean he was obviously some close to her. Many people continue loving and caring about the people that hurt them. That doesn't mean that they like the abuse. | |
| Green Day – Coming Clean Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I think it could have many meanings. I personally have always interpreted it with a homosexual reference. Maybe that's because I'm gay? Anyway... I think that the line "I found out what it takes to be a man" is one of the greatest lines in any of their songs. It makes me respect them a lot more. Saying that you're gay takes a lot of guts... If a boy can do that at 17, he obviously feels somewhat secure and really IS a man for coming clean. I think that's the main point of the song. That coming out doesn't make you a pansy. It gives you strength and you realize that you don't have to be overly masculine to be a real man. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Pierre Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Wow... Present and Angelundergravity, I think you are both reading way too deeply into this song. I think it was simply written as a song for children. It has a moral, much like many fairy tales, etc. I don't think Pierre was planning to blow out his brains or anything similar. From the context, I would guess he is about 4 years old. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Mrs. O. Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| I've always thought this song was about children being taught that certain things are "real" and certain things aren't. I think that Mrs. O is playing the devil's advocate (for lack of a better word) and telling the children that Yes, the holocaust was real, and that she was actually there. I also think that it is drawing a fine line between things that are questioned that need to be seen as true (because they are) such as the holocaust and hiroshima, and Santa Claus, which is not real, but is often more well-recieved and readily believed than stories of the holocaust. | |
| Otep – Tortured Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| this "song" makes me really sad. I agree with defystars... it makes me a little queezy. | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| Also... my interpretation. I don't think that the songs main focus is on botched abortions. I think it was amanda's vision of what it would be like if she had went to med school. I think it's kind of a fantasy of sorts that shows exactly how she would end up using her talents. I don't think that the part about Brian has any sort of sexual inuendos. I think it simply means that Brian is willing to take over the "business" if she can't be there to "fix" your problem | |
| The Dresden Dolls – Mandy Goes to Med School Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Another version (the plier version): (4th stanza) Yes, I can do everything you need from out of my new SUV All my work is gauranteed to last the length of recovery Put away those pliers, honey, there are many other options, How about a nine month long vacation and a two-foot coffin? (7th stanza is erased) (9th stanza) And if you're bothered, and I am unavailable, my partner brian would love to take care of you. He is a nice man; thoroughly reliable. He's in a rock band, and he goes to med school. |

| The Dresden Dolls – Bank of Boston Beauty Queen Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| The first time I heard this song it reminded me of a pedophile who watches kids/teens and i thought the song was his/her own personal thoughts. I think that this is another two-meaning-song. | |
