It's clear that song is about masturbation but wouldn't say it's about porn for I don't think that's the right word for the "pictures of Lily". I've always imagined that the "pictures of Lily" are pictures of a very beautiful and attractive woman - maybe a famous movie star or a woman from showbusiness - not smutty or dirty porn pictures. |

"The game" is then the music business or maybe even just the every day live. Anyway, what a great song this is ;) |

Sometimes it helps to listen to the music itself to understand the lyrics. I think song is about two voices within Roger that call out to each other. The "two lost souls" are both his. The intro for the song reflects this in a way because there are two different guitars that are calling out to each other and maybe even fighting. The line: "And did you exchange / a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" is yet another refrence to Roger's "conflict" with stardom and fame. By becoming a rock n' roll star, he is no longer just an avrage person in the every day war ("walk on part in the war"), he's become a celebrity, a rolemodel and a star that's isolated from the every day life but is in the lead role ("lead role in the cage"). |
