I get the feeling theres something in this song about Layne Staley: 'Putting in. Inputting in. Don't feel like methadone. A scratching voice all alone it's nothing like your baritone.' I'm pretty sure Stayley was getting high as possible at this stage, and in 2002 he died.. Its like an ode to Staley for me, but at the same time it's just a great song.. |

To be honest, i'm going to state my view here.. I don't think this song is totally about Jesus, its about L. Ron Hubbard, we all know that, so why would it be about Jesus in the first place when he says: Come down Get off your fucking cross We need the fucking space to nail the next fool martyr Has nobody thought that Maynard is saying that Hubbard tried to imitate Jesus, and he's just shouting at Hubbard: Come down! Get off your fucking cross! as if to say, okay Ron, you're not the first to try this, you've been the most likely candidate for a new saviour in the 20th century..but seriously now.. We need the fucking space to nail the next fool martyr, you know the one who is going to do exactly what you're doing now and try to claim he's the new 'Saviour'? Is a refrence to Jesus, he was accused of Blasphemy, tried and Crucified by the High Priest and his council So what Maynard is saying here, is that the media is crucifying Hubbard, for even trying to start his own religion, we all know Scientology is a joke, its had much cirticism from the media over the years And he has 'sinned', by worshipping a false God, and trying to get others to worship him, as a false God. |

Its a great song, love the main riff It has to do with life being a full circle and the idea of life after death as death is only an illusion, it makes me think of reincarnation, more of life being a coil than a circle, if the circle keeps going, which life does, 'life after death' then it would look like a coil, not a circle, but Oroborus explains this perfectly.. Oroborus is a serpent eating its tail, and symbolises life as being a full circle |

holy crap, does nobody realise that this song is about Eddie Vedder! its about how he moved out at age 16 and he never knew his real father, just a banker who his mother was with, his mother came back one time, looking for him and told Eddie his real dad was dead, sorry you never knew him, im glad we talked by the way then it goes on and turns to an arguement and his mom says yes there is something wrong...your still alive! ....thats what i heard anyways, its written somewhere |
