Aqualung – You Turn Me Round Lyrics 18 years ago
A guy is having a rough time in life - perhaps he's seriously depressed, unhappy with his lot, and dismayed at the prospect of ever being happy. He's at the edge and he figures it's "the end". "The sirens were pulling him down" and he's so numb and cold that it seems like his heart "might never have beat". But alas, he's not alone because "she was there too". No longer alone, desperate, and "drowning and wanting it over", the two - he & she and you & me - "watch as fingertips touch". They've each found the anchor that will save their life and make it worth living. "Life floods in" and with hope in other, they "swim to the sun" as rescued lovers.

A great song for the unrequited and dreamers alike...

Ray LaMontagne – Jolene Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it is absolutely imperative that you read and understand Ray's background to "get" this song. It captures his story in a very real, poignant manner. That is the beauty of it too - because it is so genuine, listeners can transcribe some facet of their life into some element of the song because at bottom, it's about having gone through some rough, confusing, and lonely times in life.

Ray LaMontagne – Shelter Lyrics 19 years ago
The live version of this song is much better than the album version - Ray evokes so much more conviction emotion. Beyond that, however, the constant and repetitive refrain "I will shelter you" so aptly describes love - the thing one lover wants to do to the other and what the one wants the other to do.
