I think the meaning of the line "Did you exchange
a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" is talking about if Syd went from being a star (walk on part) in the music industry (the war) to being insane, like a victim of insanity, a prisoner (a lead rle in a cage) |

| Pink Floyd – Echoes Lyrics
|
This song is a work of art! This song is supposed to synchronise with "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite", a scene in 2001. By the way, 2001 is a movie that says that humans think they have come a long way through evolution, but they haven't. This is symbolized by the Monolith, an unchanging rectanglular object that floats its way through space, who remains unchanged. It comes to earth in front of early primates, then it comes billions of years later, when humans evolved more. It's still unchanged. You might not get what I mean, it's hard to explain.
Like Mona Lisa's entrancing smile, Pink Floyd's "Echoes" leaves one feeling both fascinated and perplexed...(I don't know what the hell that means, but I think it means something good!) |

Anyone remember Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey"? Remember the long artsy scene near the end titled "Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite"? It's 23 minutes, 31 seconds long, and guess what. So is this song. I just read on Wikipedia it's rumored by lots of people that Echoes was written specifically to synchronise exactly with that scene and that is what the song is about; that scene. That is such a cool scene! So artsy! Anyway, they Pink Floyd were probably fans of the movie. Sung by Richard Wright and Dave Gilmour, this song is one of Pink Floyd's best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Pink Floyd – Brain Damage Lyrics

dark side of the moon has nothing to do with Syd, it talks about the things every person is involved with: time (time) money (Money), war (us and them, I think), travel/fear of travel or flight (on the run) and death/the fear of death (great gig in the sky, the screaming represents the fear it brings). All these things can lead to insanity (brain damage). The last song describes a person's impact/influence they have made and put on others and the world around them. Plus, I was sitting waiting for my mom (I'm only 13) in the car, when suddenly this guy, walking down the street looking pissed, suddenly threw a fit, waving his arms and head around. It was wierd, but poor guy. Anyway, i was listening to rock 101.1 on the radio, and on a commercial about the station, suddenly a clip of BD came on, saying "I'll see u on the dark side of the moon" What a coinkidink! |

t4r, you are totally right! (go to page 2 to see t4r's comment) Lunatic is on the grass is a reference to a lunatic being on marijuana, cos that's what syd barret did: grass and every other drug, probably. Some comments say that the dark side of the moon is about insanity (all the names: money, time, etc. are things that can make you go crazy. Brain damage is the result of all the money, time, etc, (things that make you go insane+the name of the songs on the record), considering that it is the second last song on the record, which seamlessly leads into eclipse |

In one of the songs on dark side of the moon, you hear someone who is either Syd Barret himself, or someone imitating him saying(in all his insanity): "there is no dark side of the moon, in fact, it's all dark!". Maybe I'm wrong, but that's just what someone told me. |

this song is all about drugs. But he says "shoot me" at the beginning, but it didn't at all lead to his death. Mark Chapman was just a fucking lunatic who deserves to get his fucking black, cold heart ripped the fuck out of his motherfucking torso for what he did to lennon. |

If anyone doesn't know what Lucy in the Sky with Diamionds stands for, that's kinda wierd. The lyrics are all about LSD, because he sees random things like newspaper taxis and cellophane flowers. The change of mood from the verse to the chorus is just like LSD, because it apparently makes you get mood swings. GREAT SONG |

Paul wrote this song about his mother. She died when he was in his late teens, and, shortly before the song was written in 1970, he had a dream in which he saw his mother, and in the dream she told him something like, "I'm not alive, but just Let it Be." That's how he got the idea of the song. I'm 100% sure that's what it's about, because in an issue of" Reader's Digest", he said that's what it's about. His mother's name was Mary, so in the song, he said, "Mother Mary comes to me", but he was not talking about the Virgin Mary at all. One of their last singles ever released, this song is the most incredible Beatles song I've heard, and anyone who thinks otherwise should go to hell. |

Interviewer (obviously a republican): "So do you guys think anyone who votes for Bush is an 'American Idiot'?"
BJA: No, no. Just-just a very misinformed idiot.
(Audience Laughter)
Interviewer: Good answer! haha!
That was on a show called "Storytellers", on which GD played all the songs on american idiot in front of a smnall audience and told what the songs meant. |

this song has a lot of sex in it, like the part "There may not be another way to your heart so I guess I’d better find a new way in" it's very obvious what that means, same with this: I won’t be satisfied ‘til I’m under your skin. Great song, especially the live one on their DVD! |

This is the wierdest beatles track I've ever heard. when i first listened to it, I thought "........................................OKAY...................." It's a funny song though, especially at the ending where it undergoes a major mood swing from mysteriously freaky to extastic. Haha. Mood swings. much like the effects of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" if you get the obvious play on words. Beatles ROCK!!!

This is the most amazing Zep song EVER!it's 8 minutes, but the liuve one on song remains the same is 10 minutes because of the extended solo. If u play it backwards (This is damn true, by the way!) you will hear Bob Plant say:"Oh, here's to my sweet satan, the one whos little path would make me sad, whose power is satan, he'll give those with him you 666 there was a little tool shed where he made us suffer sad satan". It's very unclear, and it makes no sense, but that's what he says at the "If there's a bustle in your hedgerow" part. COOL SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I want to hear something new from them, and I don't know when their new ecord will come out. Sweetest goodbye is possibly the best song on the record!Peace.

This is another one of the great fun songs on Sgt Pepper. apparently some US radio stations tried to ban it from being played on air, because Billy Shears (played ny ringo) said "I get high with a little help from my friends" in the song. People were so sensetive in the 60's! not that drugs are good, but it is such a mildly offensive statement. sure as hell not as offensive as saying you're bigger than christ, though. Cool Song! |

this is such a cool song!but it's kinda wierd in the middle and the ending with the wierd noises...and if you wait about a minute after the last E chord on the piano is hit, you hear some pepole talking gibberish that repeats over and over again till it fades out.. it sound like JL is saying Never-goosey-annie-over-what-AA- over and over again. Probably one of john's wierd subliminal messages.. Anyway GREAT SONG and GREAT ALBUMM!!
