Damien Rice – Be My Husband (Nna Simone cover) Lyrics 19 years ago
Repetitive or not this song is brilliant. It reminds me a lot of the when women were not considered as important as men. When men controlled women, they just did what they were told.

From First to Last – Waltz Moore Lyrics 19 years ago
I disagree with the whole bulimia idea. There's two lines that make a slight reference, but that doesn't make the song. I do agree with the whole 'Sonny's insecurities' thing though. Has anybody ever seen Sonny's myspace page? Under his about me it says something to the effect of "if you dont know me theres a good chance that youve heard alot of bad things about me. alot of peple like to tell other people that im short and have bad skin, a big nose and that my fingers are really fat and stubby." I think that whole idea is conveyed in Waltz Moore. I agree with My_Intoxication with the entertainment thing and name--"pushing my limits for your entertainment
and you had the nerve to call out my weaknessess and drag me through the dirt".

From First to Last – Afterbirth Lyrics 19 years ago
True. This song is about Sonny's adoption. To me, it's quite clear. First of all, the title of the song--Afterbith. Afterbirth being the placenta and whatnot that's thrown away after the baby is born--In this case, Sonny 'being' the afterbirth.
The lines:
"Breed me, breed me, give me away"
Meaning, like, 'make' [conceive] me, then just give me away--talking to his birth parents.
Then:
"Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away"
To me, he could be talking to either set of parents. Moreso to his adopted parents though because he found out about his adoption when writing for Heroine had just begun. Saying that all of those years they never told him the truth, etc, etc.
Then that final lines really cement the adoption 'thought'-
"They told me:
A little boy who had been wearing my face
Had told me I was born to be given away".
Although this song is about adoption, it can be intrepreted different ways. I think it's relateable for anybody who has gone through puberty. Either way it's a great song.
