two people, in love, but very different to one another.. i get the sense he's comparing himself & his lover through the verses... at times, seemingly implying that she is superior, stronger, more confident. as though he can't always keep up with her...and her growth. but despite clashing, colliding... its almost his plea for her to be patient and have faith in love and see if it'll see them through their differences: "Even the best fall down sometimes" "Don't stop here I lost my place I'm close behind" |

loving this song at the moment resisting and supressing feelings toward someone because you "shouldn't" be feeling them for whatever reason although something like that can hurt, she has a way of making it seem serious and frivolous at the same time... most of her songs give me a sort of fluffy feeling |

think it's about being torn between your feelings for someone and rationalisations about why you shouldn't be with him/her or why it ended/should end and about making a decision to end it for whatever reason, but still having feelings despite all the reasons its not right my favs: "but do you know, it doesnt change, the way i feel about you... at the end of the day" & "i tell you that i wanna go... but i wanna stay" it says a lot about how we often do that in life with our relationships... say what we don't mean inside, deny our true feelings for the sake of something - be it coping with the disappointment and sadness of a relationship - esp one that has finished without real closure.. or that couldnt be realised.... |

good song. i think its about a relationship between two people who are in love... except one partner (to whom he's singing) is troubled...maybe depressed, insecure and is holding back and perhaps keeping him at a distance. "All this feels strange and untrue And I won't waste a minute without you" - he's saying there's no reason for them to not be together and spend their time apart, when they should be & want to be together. "My bones ache, my skin feels cold and I'm getting so tired and so old The anger swells in my guts And I won't heal these slices and cuts" - dealing with it makes him tired, weary and even angry. He's imploring (her) to open her eyes... "I want so much to open your eyes 'cause I need you to look into mine" - saying that they have love and that he needs her too. "Get up get out get away from these liars 'cause they don't get your soul or your fire." - she is misunderstood and not appreciated or seen as he sees her, by the people that surround her. "Take my hand knot your fingers through mine And we'll walk through this dark room for the last time. Every minute from this minute now We can do what we like anywhere." - he's encouraging her saying that he'll be there, that they can make a new start, overcome the pain, leave it behind and be free do do what they choose...what makes them happy, together. - went all out there... my first post =o) p.s. i relate to the song a lot, it's almost descriptive of my last relationship. |
