Jimmy: "For a start Dire straits probably don't give a crap about america." I doubt this is about the American Civil war. Jacobite war, Bosnia and Lebanon are good presumptions. Any civil war seems to fit its spirit well enough. Mark Knopfler was an univerisity history lecturer before he was a rock star. His Sailing to Philadephia and Shangri-La albums are mostly American history pieces. Dire Straits at large might not care, but Mark certainly does. |
