This song is talking about how there are so many people that want to come off like something (gangster or rasta), but their backgrounds make it so they'll never be what they want to be. Merrill then suggests that her neighborhood is actually bad, or these could be the words of the wannabe-gangsters. I see all these white kids in suburban neighborhoods trying to act tough. |

Aw, poor Bruce can't decide between Batman or Vicki. What happened to Vicki after this movie? She seemed to drop off the face of the earth. |

Yes, I agree that it's "out of the frying pan and into the fire", and I've always thought that this song is him talking about a girl he is cheating on his girlfriend with. "Are you the one?" is him wondering aloud if this new girl is the one that's really meant for him. |

I think it's just really funny that the announcer sounds all serious and then he just turns around and says fuck it. Like the song was supposed to be all sophisticated, in a drum & bass way, then he was just like 'fuck it, let's just dance.' |

I really love the first few lines of this song, it makes me feel like even though this song is blatantly about laser tag, it has a deeper meaning, like he's seeing someone for who they really are, and that what they had was all wrong.
Also, I love how slow it gets a the very end.

| Radical Face – Welcome Home Lyrics

This song has brought me to tears.
This is about forgiving the past and returning to the good times, maybe remembering everything before death.
" You were never supposed to leave, now my head's splitting at the seams" gets me every time. |

Fathers, ghosts, blood.
Something about lineage?
Childhood?
Anyone?
This is a really pretty song, but I just can't make out what it's about! |

Ghosts are definitely a common theme in this album, and they're mentioned here again with the ghost of the father, who seems angry at the daughter, who I'm going to guess is "you" in this song.
This song is so all over the place I can't really understand what's going on, I get that they die (at least metaphorically) in the beginning of the song (" I pulled the trigger and we floated off"), but I don't get the cutting of the eyes, the blood, the rings, the piano strings, etc. Any ideas, anyone? |

| The Living End – What Would You Do? Lyrics

This song is very straightforward to me: A guy is in love with a girl and she doesn't know. He's unsure of her feelings toward him, but he figures he has no chance, which is why he's "stopped himself from trying"
I feel like it's probably a preppy or upperclass girl, because of the things she wears, that she's "gonna be a millionare" |

I can't believe no on has commented this song! I think it's the prettiest on the whole album.
I believe it's talking about how intangible things (ie, memories) ted to be elusive and dissapear quickly from our minds. |

The whole album he was going through a swing phase. This song gives me the best metal image of someone happily smashing things randomly in a house.
I feel like the girl (little mama) did something terrible to him, and he's ravaging her stuff in revenge ("tit for tat"- like 'an eye for an eye') |

This song took a while to grow on me, but now I really like it.
I feel like this is a political song- all the references to "precious territory" and waterloo, but beyond that- to saying that we'll all become "whales in cubicles" and "grow old" before we can find ourselves (before the sun can deliver you).
I think he means that the government controls us, to the point where our lives aren't even ours anymore (this isn't your song...when by comittee they choose it all)
a lot of jumbled ideas....I tried to combine them... |

I love how she sings it, even though it's a guy loving a girl to death and her rejecting him.
I feel like this whole thing is about puberty, when guys frist realize that girls turn them on and they all want girlfriends. The song is about one guy who thinks he had the perfect girl and secretly obsess about her, but she doesn't know he exists. |

| Andrew Bird – Scythian Empire Lyrics

This song is amazing. I'm so upset that no one has commented on it. Scythians were a nomandic people who resided on a steppe, and were part of ancient Iran. (Thank you, Wikipedia)
There are some mirrors to modern things in the lyrics (Halliburton attache cases, scotch garud macintoshes). I believe iandrew Bird is talking about artifacts, and how ours are made of materials that will be forgotten in a thousand years, unlike the Scythian articfacts, which are beautiful and mysterious. |

I didn't listen to this album, and I chose to start listening to it from this song because it's called 11:11 and that's my wishing time during the day...
So does anyone know why it's called 11:11? |

This song is about a woman (maybe the singer) who's financee cheated on her, so she asks a gypsy lady to help put a curse on him to fix what went wrong. It seems to end well, with the husband back with her. |
