| Showbread – The Missing Wife Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Josh said this on the Showbread forum: i wrote it for my wife years before i met her... i overheard a conversation between a married couple, they were suggesting which friends they might like to "hook up" with in the event that one of them died, the girl recommended which of her friends would be good for the guy and vice versa. Basically, he's just saying that his wife will be irreplaceable. No matter what, she will always be his soulmate, the one person that's perfect for him. |

It's clearly about God, or at least about religion, and there's definitely some war stuff in there too. I think it's about how the government uses religion to scare people into doing what they want. "Blind your eyes watchin' sunbeams You can't see this creepin' pack of dogs" While people are busy staring at the sun, the government can do whatever they want, as long as they say it's God's will, people will continue to look the other way. What I can't figure out is if it's against religion, or just against people using religion to get stuff done. |

| Showbread – The End (Anorexia) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song, it's simple, but just reading it, you can feel Anorexia's hopelessness. (STORY SPOILER) She works so hard to find God (or reach the sky) using her own methods and fails, her own method gets her nowhere, just like most people's methods of living achieve nothing in the long run | |

I could I agree with the split personality thing kind of, but I think it's more like our natural instinct (for lack of a better word). Sometimes we do dumb stuff, and then afterwards our mindset just completely changes, and you regret what you just did. "Mirror, mirror can't you see That something's got a hold on me" Anyway, that's my thought, you may have been thinking that anyway, or this could actually be a song about a guy with a split personality, with HIL it's hard to tell how deep the symbolism goes. |

| He Is Legend – China White II Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
(Adding to my last comment) According to Wikipedia; Both the China White songs are roughly based on a myth where a man marries a woman and the woman dies. The man buys their dream home, cremates his wife and then buries the ashes and makes a garden where the ashes are. "when you wake you'll be beautiful again." The flowers that grow in this garden represent the memory of the man's wife. |

It sounds like a song about a drug user "Your skin was so prized Your head/hair grew out to cover Your new blisters" Could be scars from needles or cutting, "her hair grew out" could mean that she changes her appearance to hide her habits, "Although these were our dreams We’ll never wake from them" could represent that she may may not fully realize what she's doing or maybe even not remember it, but the consequences are permanent and serious (death, jail, whatever) |

| He Is Legend – China White II Lyrics | 19 years ago |
| It sounds like the gardener is obsessed with his "flowers" (particularily roses), and when it doesn't rain, he gets pissed and starts killing this family... That's what I take from it, although the flowers/garden could represent just about anything | |
