Belle & Sebastian – Jonathan David Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yes, the song does have references to the Jonathan and David in the bible. But Jonathan and David were more than just friends, which makes sense because otherwise one could have chosen other "best friends" for this song. Jonathan and David were lovers, which the church doesn't like to admit. This song is about an equally well hidden love. the song isn't tragic because the singer loves his best friends girlfriend, but because he loves HIM. If you don't believe me, look it up on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_and_David you will see there are different interpretations. |
Placebo – Pure Morning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Brian said about the song: "Pure Morning" is about that time of day when the sun is coming up and you’re coming down. Everybody else is getting ready to go to work and you’re feeling incredibly dislocated from the rest of the world. |
Wir Sind Helden – Zuhälter Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think the the song is supposed to critisize the greed of gain in the music business (which is compared to prostitution, as some "artists" would do anything in order to sell more records). Ihr schickt meine LIEDER Auf die Straße Um für euch zu laufen Sie sollen sich verkaufen Sie sollen mit jedem mit Ein kleiner Ritt Ist ein großer Schritt Für das kälteste Gewerbe Der Welt |
Placebo – Brick Shithouse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Perhaps the "Brick Shithouse" is supposed to mean both. We KNOW that placebo lyrics are always a little ambiguous. And perhaps the person singing IS trapped under that toilet (after having been killed?). That would make the song even more creepy... |
Placebo – No Other God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
When discussing Placebo songs people often argue wether they're about love or drugs. I think the point is that both themes are very similar, which is why Placebo like to play around with expressions and images related to both. A destructive love can have the same effects on you and the people around you as taking drugs, love AND drugs can make you feel high, make you see the world from a new perspective, cause you pain or even kill you. So I think the songs are (always) meant to be ambiguous. |
Placebo – I Do Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I really don't know if my interpretation is right, but perhaps the song isn't about brian, but about a (gay) man who admires a woman, wants to be like her because she is so beautiful and pure, but is unable to fall in love with her. He knows they would be a perfect match, thats why he wishes he could love her ("I wanna say I do"). Does that make any sense? |
Green Day – Coming Clean Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Frogg is absolutely right. How can anyone be a homophobe AND a real bja/green day- fan at the same time? Anyway, I think it's a great song about coming out / growing up in general. |
