Close To Me is my favourite song ever, but I still really like this. It's upbeat and good on those days when you feel like shit, but have to realise that you're only human and it's ok to feel like that sometimes. |

Children Collide are awesome. This song will always make me think of the time when I got out of an abusive relationship (won the fight and broke away, finally) and decided that it would be the year I lay to rest all of my fears and started living life for me. I met the guy who stopped me wondering why, now I just have to show the world how it's done ;-) |

I played this song a lot when I broke up with my ex fiance. He was always such a downer, and with him gone I was finally free to be happy. Perfect day to throw back my head and kiss it all goodbye. Then get on with my new life :) |

| Crowded House – When You Come Lyrics

This is one I love to belt out in the car, I think I have just listened to it so many times that I have no trouble with the lyrics :)
And for years I saw this as Kaatrien says, just the anticipation of seeing someone who sets your world on fire. But since I met my current partner, well let's say that the lyrics speak to me on a more physical level. Devotion, passion and exultation with someone you know well and trust implicitly. Burning and exploding, like a slow volcano... with ashes. |

Beautiful, beautiful song, even for someone like me who does not believe in God :-)
I get this as being about a regular guy who is having a conversation with his God. Despite the fact that he has questions and doesn't completely agree with how his God operates, he is still grateful for and loves 'this', presumably life, the world around him and everything. |

I heard an interview with Cody where he said that this song is a metaphor for treading the line between pandering to 'white' music execs while staying true to his roots. |

This song always brings a tear to my eye, how in the midst of the atrocities going on in Sarajevo they did what people do and got on with life by holding a beauty pageant.
I'd never read the english translation of Pavarotti's bit before, but that is so haunting, the urgency and despair that underlies the "Miss Sarajevo' pageant... |

This song has always painted the picture of a shipwreck for me, so the hear about the 'old man and the sea' was interesting. It makes me think of a shipwreck where only two survive, a young man and a young woman, like the story of the Loch Ard. She takes the romantic view that it was fate, but he is more of a hard case, maybe he is a criminal or a killer and she doesn't know she just thinks they were meant to be together and he plays along...
Just the picture I get from it. |
