How can you say that the deaths of Sid and Nancy were important? Nancy was a drug addicted whore groupie and Sid Vicious was a joke. He couldn't play his instrument, he didn't record with the Pistols(pretty much a joke themselves) on Nevermind the Bollocks. Two people the scence and the world are better off without. |

I assumed Songmeanings.net was set up to discuss the hidden meaning of complex songs by Leonard Cohen or Lou Reed, not wonder what completely straightforward lyrics meant. Oh..and "best love song ever"? You don't listen to much music do you? |

I just don't understand the person who called the Talking Heads "post-punk" I suppose their later stuff could be classified as such, but a song off an album that came out in 1977? Hardly post punk my friend. |

What everyone is saying is right on the mark except for one thing......these guys aren't rare. As the son of a Probie officer and the grandson of a state trooper aaaaaaaaaand a guy who used to be on probation, I've seen every side of this shit. All I have to say is, 90% of guys involved in law enforcement are trying to #1) put food on the table and #2) keep the town/county/state safe for the rest of us....show a little respect. |

I never thought about the poverty angle, but that does fit in really well with what I was thinking, and that was it basically just describes winter life (especially if you're poor) with lines like "don't be a cry baby there's wood in the shed" and "stop talking to the neighboors till we all go dead" (the way you kind of close yourself off from all but your own household in the winter) |

Wow, these posts are just excellent fodder. We'll start with "Bush is a fucking faggot who shouldnt(sic) even exist" First of all, beautiful lack of punctuation, is that part of your rebellion? Secondly calling Bush a faggot seems to be contrary to your beliefs as one who is "punkrocking4eva" Do you hate homosexuals a)more b)less or c) the same as you hate our president?
Next in line-ENi...hating capitalists eh? I would assume NOFX falls into this category unless their records are produced by some Communist media group I haven't heard of. I'm pretty sure they buy and sell things just like rest of us(unless you stole that computer you're using to help promote the proletariat.
Finally- The song title is not an oxymoron, it's a pun. It most certainly is not brilliant. |
